According to promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, the winner Gennady Golovkin vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez should be considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. On September 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo (49-1-1, 34 KOs) will challenge Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) for the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight titles on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Andre Ward is the clear #1 in the world right now. It would be criminal to put ANY fighter over him right now. I don't think the winner of this fight is even better than Kovalev p4p. Kovalev is better than people think, it's a joke how people don't care for him anymore just because he lost to the best fighter in boxing right now.

He relies on dirty tactics and cheating to win his biggest fights. I don't know about you, but I want my #1 to win their fights fair and square with boxing skills and without any controversies. Ward doesn't do that.

#1 spot is vacant as far as I'm concerned. If Canelo/GGG win in dominant fashion then that might change.

#1 for me depends much on THIS Saturday, not the following Saturday. Gonzalez should have won last time out and if wins this time around he is back at number one - guy is winning fights in his 4th weight division in what is arguably the most competitive division in the sport. Must watch event on Saturday.
I have Crawford as #2 regardless of who wins CAN-GOL the winner of which I'd put at #4 behind Ward at 3. Loma at #5.

I can understand why anyone would give the #1 to Ward, even tough i dont like he style, the guy wins ( altough i had him loosing the first Kovalev fight 8/4)
But Kovalev has always been to overrated imo. All he does is jab, jab 1/2. Great power yes, But onedimensional .
I love ggg and he isnt a great adjuster either but he is better than Kovalev.
Imo Ward, loma and TC are the best in no particular order just skills

Ward's just too consistently dirty to be considered 1 he shouldn't be rewarded for that

Maybe the best at 160. Best in the world? No so much.

Ward's the best whether people like him or not. He hasn't lost since he was a kid and unlike GGG/Canelo he's beat SEVERAL top guys. Sorry GGGroupies but he's not p4p#1 until he beats Ward who he's NEVER going to get in the ring with. I will go as far as to say whoever wins this fight is up there in the Top 3 for sure.
