Comments Thread For: Groves Defends McGuigan Following Splits With Haye, Frampton

George Groves has defended Shane McGuigan following his splits with Carl Frampton and David Haye and credited the trainer with inspiring the happiest period of his career. Less than 12 months ago, the 28-year-old McGuigan had only ever experienced victory in his role and had become Britain's most in-demand trainer when his success with Frampton had led to him being recruited by Groves and Haye.

Surely Mcguigan cant be blamed for the Haye loss? That was a freak injury. As for Frampton that was a close competitive fight against Santa Cruz. Sometimes the decision goes for u and sometime against u in that level of competition

Guys come on, this has nothing to do with winning or loosing fights.

      It's money!

It's well known Carl made less than Scott quigg for their fight despite getting a much larger purse......as by the time he paid every muguigan on the payroll he didn't have anywhere near what he should have had.

Didn't Barry find Carl from the womb? Barry cried like a baby when Carl won his first belt. That's a breakup that has "deeply personal and nasty" written all over it.

I don't think they 2nd fight was that close at all, they looked like they didn't have a clue what to do despite Santa Cruz telling them exactly what adjustments hed be making weeks before the fight even happened

well the fight was scored a majority decision by scores of 115-113 twice and a 114-114 which in my book is a close fight. Me and 3 professional judges must be wrong tho because u dont think it was a close fight

Bit annoying because Josh Taylor is still tied up with Cyclone Promotions. He should get out before they start stifling his progress.

The McGuigan family bled Frampton dry. I don't blame him for leaving them. Tbh Shane comes across as an absolute weapon, same with his dad.

Barry always cried about Eastwood and how he got robbed, but he and his family they say are 100x worse.
