The EBU held their General Assembly in Belgrade on Saturday June 3. Ruben Martinez, a powerful and controversial man in European boxing, was re-elected as President. The other candidates were Peter Stucki, vice-President of the EBU since many years, and Humbert Furgoni from France. It seems like Stucki could have made it with a majority of the votes but he also had some of the big Federations (which you want to read as some of the big promoters) against him. Stucki then withdrew his candidature and supported Martinez in what you might call a tactical move that left Furgoni stranded. [details]
