This won't happen. Cotto seems the type to carry a grudge and after battering Margarito in the rematch he's already had his revenge for the first fight, and he won't feel like giving him another big payday.

Also, for this to happen, Margarito needs to beat Carson Jones. I don't think he will.

Pointless fight...but one that would sell. Margarito is too far removed from his prime to make this remotely interesting. And, as much as Cotto disdains Margarito, I don't think he wants to beat him to death.

i dont even think it'll sell, just like you said, marg has been so far remove as being a contender. this fight wont even be competitive. even the 2nd fight wasnt competitive, it lasted longer than it should because cotto was still with that one defensive trainer. if they fight now, cotto being with roach, marg wont even make it to see round 3.

I mean yeah, instead of people talking about how the man got beat with bricks for 11 rounds, but kept right on fighting, people want to talk about him taking a knee. He showed the type of guts that Margaritto didn't have when he got drilled once by old man Mosely and didn't get up.
So we're just going to make sh#t up. The man ended up on his knee and waited for the ref to stop the fight.

Yea...you're probably right about it not selling. You're definitely right on all other points.

naw cotto was gassed. pacquiao saved him by destroying margs eye. ref had to stop it. cotto never put a dent in marg and was beginning to give in. he may be a cheating fck but u cant put plaster on the chin marg is one durable mofo.

If this was as easy of a fight as you might think cotto knows best!
Either or it be a great event! Cotto be the A side! Make lots of $$$! " cement" his legacy as a fhof! I mean he cant loose! Take it! Make it happen!!!!
I hope you're not a salesman in real life because that's not much of a pitch for Cotto-Margarito III.

I'm sure I would watch it, but it would be a very guilty pleasure that I wouldn't brag about. They are just too far apart right now in terms of skill level and what each has left in the tank. I would also bet that Marg's punch resistance isn't what it used to be, so there's very little chance that he could pose a meaningful threat to Cotto now (though we'll know more after Carson Jones). No glory for Cotto even if he obliterates Margarito.

                    Sadistic match-up -- nothing more.

Lol @ those who think Margacheato was about to come on strong and beat Cotto in their rematch.

The round right before they stopped it was one of Cotto's best rounds of the fight. He was blasting Margacheato with left hooks in that round. You recall Jim Lampley in that 9th round, "Cotto lands a left hook and another left hook!" Lol

Before round 10 could start and before they stopped the fight I saw the look in Cotto's eyes and face that said there is no way that I'm going to lose this fight.

Lol, the rematch was not even remotely close and Margacheato gave no indication that he was on the verge of winning, Margacheato was completely outclassed in the rematch. He had "zero" chance at winning that fight. Lol
