In short, for the crowd is NSB Americans of European heritage are soft. It's a cultural thing, it appears to the outsider that boxing, and boxing gyms are an inner city thing for underprivileged kids (who in America are often "**********") where sport as in other cultures is seen as a way out to make good money. Privileged classes don't put their kids in combat sports, they take the route of tennis for example. ***s are one of the wealthiest if not the wealthiest ethnicity in USA, they used to fight along with the Italians 100 years ago in the States, but now they have moved up, they went from hard to "soft", which is not a bad thing.
The reason you see an influx of fighters from Eastern Europe is because the region is poor, most Eastern Europeans have less cash on hand and even fewer opportunities to make money than some people in US projects. True average salary in countries like Ukraine and Russia is 150-300$ a month. In Ukraine for example many men go to Western countries to lay bricks and drive trucks.
Eastern Europe culturally also values sport, for this you can thank the Soviet Union which pushed sport on everyone to use as propaganda of its superiority to the West.
Gym class in Ukraine in the 5rd grade was 10x harder than what I did in Canada in the 9th grade. And it had a hard approach, if you failed you didn't get a pass, you were held back etc.
There is also simply a culture of "boys fight" were in Canada at least it's labeled as unexceptionable. You could have fought in a Ukrainian school and teachers would simply separate you, where here you get suspended or expelled for any show of aggression.
It all comes down to culture, the well to do folks don't get into sports like boxing, this is the rule, but there are always exceptions.Comment
