I disagree. I think Canelo can be troubled by jabs. His most competitive fights where against guys with good jabs. The problem is that most of the guys with those good jabs didn't or couldn't take advantage of it. Amir Khan didn't have the power to hurt Canelo, the chin to take Canelo's punches or the defensive discipline/skill to avoid Canelo's shots over a full 12 rounds. Erislandy Lara had power, skill and discipline that Khan lacked but offensively he was too passive and gave rounds away. Floyd Mayweather Jr did a fine balancing act that should have won him more rounds than it did (at least 2 of the judges gave it to the right guy).

GGG is a different beast. He's not going to be inactive like Lara. He has the power to hurt Canelo, the aggressiveness to consistently use it and the chin to take Canelo's shots. Sure, Canelo moves his head but lets not pretend he's Pernel Whiticker in there. GGG has a good, stiff and accurate jab. I think his effectiveness with the jab will determine how this fight goes. If Canelo can neutralize it then he's going to win. If he can't we're going to see long stretches of the fight going the same was as GGG vs. Lemiuex.

Trip doesn't have the same footwork those guys (Lara, Mayweather, Khan) used. He comes forward to cut the ring off, he doesn't punch and move out of range quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if Alvarez tries to get off first and make Trip counter.

I think he's talking about the KO and even if, comparison is completely invalid as GGG is a natural 160 pounder and Floyd is a natural 135 pounder who never weighed more than 151 lbs in his entire career and was the much smaller man on fight night. GGG is by far the bigger man on September 16th and he's gonna be Canelo's first (real) opponent above 155 lbs. So GGG winning by KO can't be compared to Mayweather beating Canelo by any means.

Hmmm.... I must have seen a different fight because in the one I saw Floyd completely dominated Canelo. The only person who could disagree with me is that crazy judge who saw the fight even.

canelo has stamina issue. reason why they prolly choose to box floyd. slow pace. if canelo came out guns blazing, he will be hitting air and will tired out in the later rounds.

Jacobs is a big dude who came into the ring weighing as a cruiserweight. GGG couldnt dispose him because Jacobs could punch too. Canelo is smaller than GGG. More weight on Canelo will make him sluggish. I feel GGG has a knockout chance late in the fight.

Logic says that at 160, Alvarez should have a bit more stamina. I can certainly see that he isn't planning on weighing 175+ and drying out to 160 from his training vids. If Alvarez can counter or parry Trips jab, we will have an excellent 12 rounder.

Two years ago I would have bet my house on GGG. At this point I think that Canelo will take the W, must likely by KO.

Canelo fought to survive and not risk getting knocked out by Floyd... Just like Pacquiao, Marquez, De La Hoya, etc...

If they went at Floyd like Hatton or Corrales - they would have been dropped with a counter-right... Don't be fooled... Canelo knew exactly what he was doing..

I agree with this. That's why I've always had the most respect for Hatton out of all "Money"s opponents. (Probably Maidana I too, but in fight II he gave up). He's the only guy that went in there who actually tried to win the fight. The rest went in there and were content with losing then making excuses.

If he stops Canelo it would be a more convincing victory.

If he stops Canelo they will say it was a lucky punch and that Canelo was winning before he was stopped. GGG would have to totally dominate every round and then KO him in order to top Floyd.

My guess is G will mostly jab as he won't easily hit Canelo-- due to canelos head movement. At long to mid range he'll get outlanded in power punches but will try to wear down canelos stamina. Canelo won't waist energy over moving his legs. Then G will Lower his head and try to apply pressure a little closer and he'll get outlanded there also --if he goes to the head. He mostly likely will want to trade body shots but he'll be giving canelos his own head.

Yall act like GGG is just a thicker, stronger version of Liam Smith.
I'm tempted to think that GGG is also a more skilled fighter than Liam and will put hands on Canelo.

Trout? Not really
Lara? No
Floyd?Hell no.

Same for GGG vs Jacobs and Kell. He didn't clearly dominated them (Kell before stoppage obviously).

So there are some real questions about GGG.

But there are still questions for Canelo IMO.

I don't care if he looked like SRL vs Smith and Chavez JR.
