GGG: "Only 3 Punches In Boxing; Jab, Hook, And Uppercut"

The pull counter itself is not just a right...I think GGG is correct. He was giving inspiration to young boxers. The pull counter is just a form of straight right. What GGG was saying is you throw straight punches, hooks or uppercuts with either hand and I think that covers all the punches. Sure, you could cover variations of each punch but that is a bit complex for an inspirational talk to young boxers.
It's a defensive counter punch in the form of a cross, but the cross itself is not a variation of a jab, hook, or uppercut. Again, how often do you see Golovkin throwing crosses? It's not his style. Golovkin loads up shots with hooks. Look back to even the Ouma fight, GGG throws an arsenal of non stop hooks and overhands, but rarely any effective cross punches. It's not his style. I think too many amateur bouts made GGG robotic...
Ironically with Rigo's 500 amateur fights, Rigo is cross punching all day!!!!Comment

Boxing terminology is different in different languages and in different countries.
In my country we also distinguish between straight punches, hooks and uppercuts. Those are the main 3 categories. We don't have a word for "jab". The jab is called a left straight (if you're orthodox) and the cross is called right straight.
At the end of the day it doesn't mean **** how you call it because you learn pretty much the same basic techniques everywhere. Then when you master those you build up from there and learn all kinds of specific punches and movements.Comment

I noticed that aswell. Guy was speaking Russian so maybe the translator got it wrong?
It's not like GGG doesn't throw right hands either so he knows their importance lolComment
