  • Comments Thread For: WBC Prez: We'll Do Whatever is Possible To Make Wilder-Joshua

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has vowed to do whatever was possible to ensure his WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs), would get the opportunity to unify with WBA, IBF, IBO world champion Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs). Both of them are scheduled to make defenses in the fall.

The biggest hurdle to this fight is chasing down Wilder and getting him in the ring. It would take an act of Congress to force Wilder to face anyone of real substance.

That's true, but let's see what happens. The WBC has never before shown an interest in having Wilder face anyone of substance. I don't think Wilder wants to give-up the WBC title if they force him to fight Joshua. That title is the only thing keeping Wilder remotely relevant. I just wonder what caused this change of heart on the WBC's part? Is Al Haymon no longer willing to pay them?

Wilder hasn't even fought ANY Mandatories yet ? Team Wilder continues to use jargon to keep in the media ... We all know Joshua will fight him bc Wilder gets $$$ and wont avoid a U.K mega fight....

The bigger question when will Wilder fight anyone relevant besides Joshua in the meantime and what commitment has Wilder had ? Guy had 7 months already to fight Stiverne?

It's better for the WBC that Joshua is their champion as he brings in more money. Make it happen since they're both ducking Ortiz.

Joshua - Ortiz - Wilder. Any combination of those guys fighting each other is great.

The venue could be interesting. Africa, China anyone?

I can't believe how protected was Wilder having a career full of bum-opponents just to cash out against AJ. I really hope somehow Ortiz (although he's old as fook) would fight Wilder and ktfo him.

Look at this incredible short list of cherries that Wilder ate:

                  Gerald Washington
                  Chris Arreola
                  Artur Szpilka
                  Johann Duhaupas
                  Eric Molina
                  Bermane Stiverne
                  Jason Gavern
                  Malik Scott
                  Nicolai Firtha
                  Siarhei Liakhovich
                  Audley Harrison

Look, even WBC want to milk money from AJ, the new cash cow in boxing together with Canelo.
