Super middleweight has only had 2 Ring champions Calzaghe and Ward

in 1990 the Ring title stopped being awarded and only came back in 2001

This might change soon. Some big fights are being made in that division. Hopefully some of the winners face off

The guy who started the ring in 1922 was an old man who was a boxing historian. He saw many great very old time boxers fight in person. He was able to make eye witness comparisons between the old timers and the new champions. He saw great boxers who were rarely or never seen on film. I think the Ring went down hill when Oscar purchased the magazine. He is a big time promoter and he says that has no effect on the magazine but I think it does. I think they still have Canelo as the middleweight champion of the world which is pretty silly. He may be the champ after September 16th but GGG is the world middleweight champ now by any logical way of determining who is the champ.
