    Mexican greats?

Why do people talk like Mexico is some country full of boxing legends? USA, UK, Russia, Ukraine, etc., frequently spawn fighters that are better than any Mexicans ever were. I like Marquez and Morales, etc., but come on. It's cool to like them, they're entertaining, but the Mexicans are overrated.

False. Just to list say 20 names in Mexican boxing history and try to name any country not named USA with a better 20 fighters -

          Juan Manuel Marquez
          Julio Cesar Chavez SR
          Ruben Olivares
          Salvador Sanchez
          Carlos Zarate
          Ricardo Lopez
          Miguel Canto
          Vicente Saldivar
          Marco Antonio Barrera
          Erik Morales

(name a country with a better and deeper 10 outside of USA)

          Then the next 10
          Kid Azteca
          Baby Arizmendi
          Rafael Marquez
          Jose Luis Castillo
          Chalky Wright
          Gilberto Roman
          Chiquita Gonzalez
          Pipino Cuevas
          Carlos Palamino
          Raul Macias

(not necessarily the next 10 or order but an example of how deep and strong their talent line is. There's probably another 10-20 equally deserving names).

Also, it is the #2 in in hall of fame fighters produced. That kind of answers the question of why do people talk about it as a country of legendary fighters.

To say Mexican boxers are overrated would depend on who is doing the rating. I have lived in the southwest USA in the LA, Tucson. and Albuquerque area. I have watched Mexican boxers fight since I was 16 years old. In my opinion on average they are pretty damn good with more than their share of great ones. I saw Rubin Olivares, Jose Napoles, Vincente Saldivar, Salvador Sanchez and Julio Chavez fight in person and they were great fighters.

The Mexican fighters I've seen are damned good. Sanchez was amazing. Chavez Senior had an amazing winning streak. He started losing when he moved up in weight later in his career for money fights. Duran is half Mexican.
