Seriously? Crawford just won all of the belts, and the governing bodies (WBA/WBC/IBF anyway) had finally made sense of the mandatory rotation; Lipinets was the only mandatory currently due and that fight could be scheduled for as late as Christmas 2017. The WBC apparently has Amir Imam next, but it's not like they were pressing that immediately after either (WBO and WBA don't have current mandatories due).

He's got to want to defend the belts, though.

Indongo in August, IBF mandatory against Lipinets in December, voluntary defense in Spring 2018, WBC mandatory against Imam by Summer 2018, a WBO mandatory at some point, and the next WBA mandatory owed Jan/Feb 2019.

Sanctioning fee isn't half, it's a typical 12% (with that figure able to be negotiated downward for big enough fights).

Crawford is going to end up like Timothy Bradley, fighting whomever Top Rank puts in front of him, never arguing for better fights, and happy to take whatever guaranteed money the Top Rank is willing to offer him.

The only thing Crawford is scared of is that Arum can't get him any fights at 147. Will Arum and Haymon put their top guys against each other?

Can someone provide me an article or comment summary?

Why did Crawford drop the belt? I won't call it a duck, cause I truly believe he wouldn't duck Lipinets (who seems decent, at least much better than Indongo...). Curious if it's a negotiating tactic, or if he's leaving the division. Broner wouldn't get in the ring with him, and at this point, not sure who else he could fight.

Im a huge fan of Crawford but it's hilarious to see that the same who held against canelo him vacating for very legit reasons (esp. the fact he didn't even know who his promoter would be as he was in middle of trial when ggg forced purse bid) are now going to just waive this off as no big deal & nothing mattering. Peeps on here are such biased mutha ****as.

Arums Top rank stank tank strikes again.

Crawford is going to 147 next according to Bob arum. so all of the belts at 140 will be vacant soon enough.

how is that at all the same as what canelo did?

You mean 12% per sanctioning body or for all 4? Isn't it around 3% per sanctioning body (with some room for negotiation)?

They could have struck a deal in between that time and announced the fight after the Khan fight in the same way they did after he fought Chavez.
You might be right, but the point is, when you're superstar, you don't fight others just cuz you're "forced to" by the sanctioning bodies. You fight whoever, whenever you want.
