I get what Ward is saying but he was being a little disingenuous. Mayweather is coming off a 2 year lay off where he was retired and focused on his promotion company and other business en******. Yes he was fighting a novice but if you're familiar with McGregor every thing he did in the first few rounds was expected. You also have to take into consideration his size and reach. The first couple rounds Mayweather couldn't get within his reach and it bothered him. Not only that but every time he reached in McGregor made him pay. Too bad for McGregor he's not a bigger puncher. Once he put his guard up and pretty much pushed his way in the fight turned around in Mayweather's favor.

On paper this was supposed to be a white wash. Once Mayweather got in there you could see it was a little off but everyone expected him to figure it out and end the fight with a win.

Finally, I love the way people complain when Mayweather fight defensively (call him a coward and a runner), but criticize him when fights an offensive fight where he actually take some shots.

I personally never want to see him fighting professionally again. He looked old and out of it. I could have seen him beaten by 3 or 4 top guys. So end on this Jordan game 6 against Utah moment and move on.

I have slammed Floyd on many occasions and wanted him to lose almost every time, but he did what was best for him. He made his name and then carefully made match ups and avoided wars that would damage him long term. A 40 year old Floyd is not the same as a 40 year old Ali. Floyd understood that to be a champion and stay on top, avoid pointless risks. Floyd could have easily made a match up with GGG, Spence, Charlo, Brook, Jacobs, etc., but selected the highest payday at the lowest risk. Conor was in the same game. Good for them. Die hard MMA fans are surely claiming some sort of moral victory because we all know that Floyd never steps in the Octagon and IF he did it would be humilation.

Disagree with Ward. There is like only ONE time that Floyd turned his back to his opponent.

The commentary was biased AF!! If you look at all the times he supposedly turned his back on Mcgregor you'll see that he DIDN'T in fact TURN his back, Floyd STAYED facing the side he was facing when they engaged, it was corner clinching Floyd around the waist and then running around to his back.

I get what Connor was tryna do, it's the same thing Castillo and Maidana kept getting away with. They wana control his lateral movement and force him to turn off balance so they can hit him with the free arm.

However Floyd's solution seems to be to plant his feet and cover his head, knowing that the ref will have to break them up. He'd not turning his back to the opponent, it's the opponent running behind him, he's just staying in position.

As a natural counter puncher, he surely is not elite when being on the front foot. It took him quite some time to find accuracy and an appropriate distance in that pressure style. Having said that, I think he would have still been elite if he chose to fight passively.

Admitted you started watching Floyd since the Pacquiao's rise.

Yeah but genetically Ward is both Ebony American and Irish so he can pretty much choose whoever he wants to throw under the bus between the two and no one can blame him.
