    Live gate still breaks record...

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-mayweather-mcgregor-less-than-capacity-crowd-still-paid-1503817870-htmlstory.html

The T-Mobile Arena attendance Saturday for the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor fight was 14,623, about 6,000 shy of the capacity crowd for the Canelo Alvarez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. bout in May.

“You’re not going to always get it right,” Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told the Los Angeles Times Saturday night after the bout.

“It’s all about delivery. The fans who were here enjoyed themselves.”

Mayweather’s powerful manager, Al Haymon, set prices for UFC champion McGregor’s pro-boxing debut that matched Mayweather’s 2015 victory over seven-division champion Manny Pacquiao — $10,000 for floor seats, and nothing in the lower bowl for less than $3,500.

One section appeared mostly empty in the building, and the massive number of Irish seen on the Strip were noticeably not represented the arena.

Yet, the prices did accomplish the intended goal.

Mayweather said after the bout that the money generated from the bout set a new live-gate record fro combat sports of nearly $80 million.

Is there a better source then Floyd saying it at the presser last night which seemed almost to casual to me & like he pulled it outta his ass more than he looked at the receipts.

I know when Ellerbe was asked about the gate he was mumbling & looking uncomfortable as f#ck lol. And I think the most confident reply he gave to the gate question which got asked a couple times by a couple different people was saying "we are right up there" lmfao. So it did f#cking well for sure, but if it came up short or just barely above it or 80M like Floyd said I wouldn't be surprised any way based on the info they were giving in the way they were giving it last night.

Look at it like this...cheapest tickets were 3500.00. 3500x140000 = 49,000.000...how many of the 10k tickets were there? 7000? I'll bet it's true

It probably is true. I was saying it'd break the gate + PPV record for months. That said the event happened & its time for facts & legit numbers now & I don't believe Floyd's comments were that based on how Ellerbe was mumbling around that question earlier.

Hell man Floyd was preparing for a fight, Ellerbe should be the one with a legit answer. For example at UFC pressers Dana White comes straight out & says "attendance tonight was 16,153 with a gate of $3.2M....any questions about tonight". Ellerbe gave no such details & if anyone should have them it should be the promoter.

TICKET SALES —Mayweather vs. Pacquiao sold out at $72 million the moment tickets were put on sale. Mayweather vs. McGregor is not sold out, although an advance figure that is said to be more than the $72 million is being talked about now, making it the biggest combat sports gate of all-time. Advantage: Mayweather vs. McGregor.

The magnitude of Saturday night’s fight from an economic standpoint has a good chance of generating more money in one day than UFC did in the entire year of 2016.

we all know that monitoring floyds finances gives your life meaning, but you dont know what you are talking about. There were a TON of comps, and tons of tickets selling for less than face value on the 3rd party sites.

Maybe it broke the record, maybe it didnt. I dont get any of the money so frankly I dont care either way. But losers like you who constantly ********** over another mans money make me want to puke.......
