And by 2 of the judges giving Conor one round it just shows Floyd controls his fate in Vegas. Anyone who didn't give Conor 3 out of the first 4 rounds is an absolute moron.

Conor proved he has world class skills, he just doesn't have a world class gas tank like people who take iv's leading up to fights.....

Skip and Shannon are going at it on Undisputed. Skip throwing Manny and every other pro that didn't land as many punches as Conor.

He did something Conor hadn't seen before: stalked him down. Stalked him, stalked him, stalked him. He didn't let Conor get the separation he wanted for his longer punches and counter punches, made him miss, and basically didn't have to throw for 3 rounds. From round 4 on, Mayweather found the body and the straight right hand, and basically gave him a merciful TKO by the end.
Despite being smaller, older, two years away and carrying those brittle hands, literally EVERY punch Mayweather landed snapped Conor's head back. Early or late, his punches did a whole lot more than Conor's did.
We heard it all from the know-nothing casuals and MMA die-hards alike about how Floyd wouldn't be able to hurt the bigger guy who's accustomed to taking shin bones to the face. Yet every punch Floyd landed snapped Conor's stupid potato head backwards. Once Floyd turned up the pressure, Conor was out on his feet. He landed 23 of 25 to a gassed McGregor - who threw nothing back in over a minute - and thus the ref stopped it.
McGregor didn't outbox Mayweather, because Mayweather was always in control of the pace of the fight. He wanted to stalk him early and gas him. Not because it's a weak or easy strategy, but because it's not something an MMA fighter is used to seeing. They can usually just grapple a guy to avoid being stalked. Furthermore, if it were the easy way out, McGregor should have done something about it to win but he couldn't.
McGregor was outclassed all the way, but that was expected. In the eyes of the neanderthal sports fans, it was going to be a lose-lose for boxing. If Mayweather wins, he was supposed to. If McGregor wins, boxing is a joke.
It was clear from his smiles and posture early on that Floyd didn't take this fight too seriously. He just held his hands up and walked the bigger guy down. Nothing Conor threw had any sting; for all the talk of how hard he punches, he did NOTHING to Floyd (who in turn mashed up the potato's face).
P.S. As to the stoppage: Unlike MMA, boxing has a 200+ year history to justify stopping fights at that juncture. One punch too late is always worse than one punch too soon.
The ignorance of claiming Conor only lost because he gassed without factoring in what floyd did to cause that is beyond me.
A lot of people have pointed out the body work but you nailed it with the stalking element of mayweathers game.
Do all the cardio and roadwork you like but when you're forced to fight at someone else's pace, out of your comfort zone in a manner that's uncharacteristic to how you normally fight, people underestimate how much that mentally fatigues you.
And the only way that was a premature stoppage was for all the boxing fans who would have enjoyed seeing the ****y pr1ck beaten to a bloody pulp. In real terms the fight was over at the end of round 4 and mcgregor was out of it completely at the end of round 9. Shipping punches when you're that level of exhausted is how you get permanent damage, see Michael Watson.

I'll concede that mcgregor had better boxing skills than I expected, credit for that. And his size and reach made me wish we'd have seen mayweather vs a prime Paul Williams.
But aside from that I have a few questions I was hoping the mma turds who saw the fight as some kind of moral victory could help me with.
What's happened since cum guzzler Dana whites assessment- when Conor touches someone they go down. Didn't see any of that.
What happened to mcgregors plan of walking through floyds punches, punching through his guard, knocking his head into the bleachers? And why did he try and implement that going backwards?
How was little old half fighter floyd, with his brittle hands, 12 years older, 20lbs lighter, the puncher and the bully in this fight.
How did little old floyd, with his tiny head, tiny core etc, walk down your boy like a rerun of ggg v murray?
Could it be that you simply can't equate mma striking to the level of striking in boxing. You're the jack of all trades, master of none. Boxing is a specialist sport that needs to be treat with the respect it deserves, you can't just march in at top level without getting your fundamentals in order.
Conor may have a future in boxing as he does have skills I'll give him that. But he needs to start at the bottom like everyone else.

the moment the opening bell rang and I saw Connor's stance, I could not stop laughing. Floyd smiling and laughing while fighting didn't help much either. LOL

not by me anyway
I said that McGregor will have success early, but that being successful in spots may not win him rounds..... he is a world-class fighter, and a world-class athlete, and would be much bigger than Floyd..... and I said that Mayweather will adjust and take over, possibly stopping Mac late.....
what I did get wrong was call a stoppage by corner
but I knew that he would gas badly
people were talking a lot of nonsense about the gloves, ref, etc
I said the biggest advantage Team McGregor gave away was agreeing to 12 rounds
that should have been a 10 round fight, and then we would have seen a little more from McGregor

I knew Conor would lose. I just didn't expect him to out box Floyd on the outside and to win 4-5 rounds. Conor's gas tank failed him, not his heart or his skills. He showed a lot in losing and it should be respected. I like how the ole Floyd is getting old excuse comes up when Conor was beating him half way through the fight. It's typical of a Floyd apologist.Last edited by Goldie; 08-28-2017, 01:35 PM.

Casual Boxing fan viewpoint

May I offer a viewpoint from what you all call the "casual fan's" perspective? Feel free to tear it apart!
Conner out-boxed Floyd the first x rounds
Not really. The punches he landed, weren't really punches, I'd say they they were more like pushes. He landed more pushes with his hands. Floyd purposely didn't take it to him. That does not mean he was outboxed.
He went 10 rounds in his debut against a world class fighter
He doesn't get props for that. He did not pose such a serious challenge that it took 10 rounds to be beat. Floyd allowed that fight to go that long, and we should appreciate that. If you paid for that fight, be thankful. He was so flat footed, with a jaw so stationary, and a guard so wide open, I was surprised he didn't get knocked out in round 1 or 2. When's the last time you saw a boxer laughin, grinnin, and smilin for for rounds?
Connor has a future in boxing he should go for it
No he should not. Just because Floyd was goofing around being conservative to prolong the fight and maybe even make sure he didn't allow some miracle punch by Connor does not mean this guy can box. Take away the spectacle of this match up and put him in the ring with another fighter that has no reason to hold back, and Connor will be on the canvas with Smokey from Friday saying "You got knocked the F out mannn!"
Floyd looked old and not as sharp
Picture a dad play boxing with his son. The son is trying with all his might to really apply himself, and lands a few shots on pops. Bless his heart for trying, but he's really not gonna hurt dad and certainly doesn't look like the "better" boxer. And dad is taking it easy, it's his son but even that aside it's a mismatch. So he's not putting forth the same effort he would if this was a grown man. Connor=son, Floyd=Dad.
Connor would win in a "real" fight
What are we considering a real fight? A real fight means different things to different people. A real fight is going to be different to a boxer, wrestler, kickboxer, sumo wrestler, fencer, samurai swordsmen....what's a "real fight"???
It sounds like a "real fight" as most are defining it is a street fight. Keep in mind trained fighters train to fight with rules. In a street fight there's asphalt, concrete, cars, poles, rocks, dirt, no ropes or cage fencing, blunt and sharp objects, you can scratch, bite, gauge eyes, kick and squeeze nuts....there's no rules! For all you know, Floyd could bite the **** out of his ear, crunch his nuts and the fight is over. I do concede however you have to give the advantage to a guy that knows how to grapple. Falling on asphalt/concrete is much different than canvas.
This was a "show" not a fight. But comical to watch
