I saw this fight live and felt good about the crowd there. I thought that they were true boxing fans as obviously they weren't catching the Mayweather fight. Regardless, this fight was brutal. I couldn't believe what I was watching when Cotto is nearly retiring in one more fight. Absolutely brutal pace and the punches that landed, Kamegai will never be the same.

That said, I hope Cotto's last fight is chosen wisely, lol. He honestly deserves more of a boxing match type of exit with someone less of a puncher, and less of a pressure fighter like Kamegai was. I think they thought despite Kamegai's pressure that they could get him out of there early and not have to deal with it for the full 12 rds. Bad assumption, lol.

That's what I've been saying too. I never seen a dude take that kind of punishment. Constant flush, head rattling shots, shake it off and keep coming, running back into his opponents face like that.

Cotto and Roach both said they've never seen anything like that in the post fight presser and were both taken a back by it a little. Lol

I think I know what name Cotto is going to say when Cotto does his interview for Ring Magazine's segment The Best I've Fought for "the best chin" caregory.

Lol, Cotto is going to say Kamegai

Yeah, I was thinking around 8 rounds or so the fight would be over. I was surprised too, I was like holy sh*$ Kamegai really does have a steel jaw. That dude absorbs punishment like a sponge.

I'm with you, I'm sure they didn't think that they were going to deal with a fast pressure pace of 12 rounds of Kamegai in Cotto's face, Lol.

On the bright side is, after a 21 month layoff, that's a good way to shake off the rust. He got to throw all of his punches and got pushed for 12 rounds. Lol

If I were Kamegai's handlers, I would give dude a rest until March or April next year and feed him a couple of easy fights, then have him fight a name fighter that is known, but more on Kamegai's level.

Something like a Kamegai vs. Berto fight.

Sure he is limited but i was impressed on the steel jaw this guy has and the amount of punishment he can absorb and still be running to you to get in your face and still throw punches at you to try to get you out of there. I'm going to call him kamikaze kamegai now.

Kamegai did knock out your boy jesus soto-karass. And soto-karass knocked out andre berto.

I say let's make a kamegai vs. Berto fight next.
i want to see broner vs berto next lol.... Ab vs ab

Cotto threw almost 900 punches. I have never seen him fight in that kind of pace. Even in the Margarito fights he threw 600 or so punches.

Cotto's had a great career but at this point he ain't no champ and calling him one is bogus and takes away from legitimate champs.

That would be a good eliminator fight. Loser retires.

If Ortiz could've have gotten some decent wins by December he might be been a good opponent for Cotto. Ortiz is huge at 147.....but no that's just crazy talk wtf am I saying

That's exactly my point about the lack of an upside: there's not enough money in it for Cotto to fight Lara.
