LAS VEGAS Bettors have continued to place wagers on Mayweather-McGregor in record proportions as their heavily hyped fight nears. According to an ESPN.com story posted Friday afternoon, by the time the opening bell rings Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, more wagers will have been placed in Las Vegas on Mayweather-McGregor than any previous boxing or mixed martial arts match. Nevada bookmakers estimated that more than $60 million was wagered on Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s victory over Manny Pacquiao in May 2015.

through Thursday night approximately 92 percent of bets placed there were wagered on McGregor, whereas 77 percent of the money was bet on Mayweather.
By Saturday night expect that money % to be closer to 90

"By Thursday night, William Hill sports books throughout Nevada had already taken more wagers on Mayweather-McGregor than Mayweather-Pacquiao, and with nearly 48 hours to go before the fight starts."

LOL cats still thinking this isn't gonna be bigger than MayPac?

Their resentment for Mayweather won't let them to see the obvious. I don't know if it'll surpass the PPV buy number, but total revenue will be higher by maybe $100 million if the buy rate is close.

And man Casino's & online sportsbooks gonna be pissed if Conor wins with all the Floyd money coming in (77% of it). There are definitely gonna be some sketchy online sportsbooks that just disappear with people's money on Aug. 27 if the unthinkable happens.

Just taking the current lines (-620 Floyd, +460 Conor) as an example:
80mill expected to be bet on the fight.
$61.6M on Floyd to return $71.5M/est for a overall profit of $8.5M
$18.4M on Conor to win $103.0M/est for a overall loss of $23M

                please

it's kind of sad to see that even ESPN is trying to somehow fake news this event.

I think this fact is probably due to people realising that a bet on Floyd is almost as good as free money, especially seeing as how the odds are closer than they should be, leading people to bet more. It's probably not because this is legit a bigger event.
