The MMA fanboys do remind me of Crossfitters... you have on one side, gritty dirty old weightlifting gyms, not unlike long standing boxing gyms. Then on the other, in the last few years, suddenly all these Crossfit gyms start popping up, generally younger crowd, taking people from regular gyms and 'culting' them into thinking theyre the best s#it out there.. 'fittest man/best athlete on earth".. sounds a bit familiar to all the "best fighter" stuff that comes out of UFC, MMA gyms springing up, going on as if sports that specialise are now inferior to these 'jack of all trades'.

    any other good analogies?

How about, a rugby fly half (the kicker) who used to play football (soccer for you in the US) back in school, suddenly playing in a top flight football match first time and scoring a hat trick (3 goals) past a top defensive team. They would say football is half a sport compared to rugby how they only use half their limbs and no tackling to achieve the aim of the sport, getting the ball beyond the line. You'd also hear how a footballer would get wasted in rugby.. yes they probs would, but so what?

It's actually been difficult to get the point across of where we're coming from as boxing fans, not to be dismissive, but simply logical...
