Comments Thread For: Showtime's Espinoza on McGregor vs. Malignaggi Being Next

Showtime Sports head Stephen Espinoza would not rule out the possibility of a future showdown between UFC superstar Conor McGregor and former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi. This Saturday night, McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Does anyone really want to see that I don't. If Con is embarrassed by Floyd just go back to UFC, if he can be really competitive maybe he would fight more boxing.

ufc fans buy anything.... Eddie alvarez is a bum and they bought that as well.... Paulie is way more famous than alvarez now and they would easily sell 1 million ppv's... Also ufc only charges $60 for hd ppv.. Boxing ppv's are 70 or 80 for hd on average

this is a bad idea. i would hope these networks put their resources into these young up and coming boxers, not another clown show.

Is this Espinoza guy just going to resume making circus fights or what? His fighters are about to jump ship en masse because of lack of fights and he's talking about a Malignaggi/McGregor.

How about making Andrade vs Lara fight?

I heard a rumor that McGregor was looking to fight Chavez. Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.

Clearly, McGregor's brilliant plan is to build his boxing career on pulling retired greats out of retirement.

After he bounces Floyd's head off the canvas, he'll send Chavez Sr. into a nursing home. Then he'll move up to fight Hopkins. And finally, I think he'll look to put together a heavyweight tournament featuring Tyson, Holyfield, Foreman, Lewis and Klitschko.

If Conor looks too good (losing or not) its highly unlikely. If Conor looks too bad then its probably unlikely we see him fight again. So the boundaries of that fight happening are slim with whats likely to happen. So if he wins somehow or looks good losing Canelo, GGG, Spence or Manny or hell even Sugar Shane makes more sense & sells more PPV's than Paulie.
