Cotto has been active and beaten all the top contenders in the past 18 months. He is worthy because of this 1 simple reason.
Nah, seriously... if u are a champ you must fight in a 12 month period or you lose your belt BUT if you are fighting for a title it doesn't matter you've fought once in 2 years and lost...Glad the wbo have integrity.

Since Mauricio has taken over the WBC has put forth a serious effort to become more legitimate. His father would've never called a mandatory for GGG against Canelo. He did the right thing calling for an immediate rematch between Gonzalez and Srisaket as well as making the Cuadras-Estrada eliminator with the winner to face the Gonzalez-Srisaket winner. He did the right thing with Povetkin by allowing him a step back into the mandatory position but Povetkin messed that up. He's doing the right thing by delaying the Wilder-Stiverne mandatory until something else can be worked out. Mauricio is a lot better than his father since he's taken over the WBC. I don't see the blatant corruption that was common under his father.Comment

I shyt on all these belts and I've seen fighters get vacant title shots who don't have half the pedigree of cotto who if he's active is on EVERYBODY top 10 154lb lists. Activity is the only issue here was top 10 ranked before his last fight was still listed before the Kirkland fight fell apart earlier this year and is better then most of the guys on the WBO rankings and like I said he at least fighting a real fighter. We can debate his title shot but hes proven. McGregor is the problem here the dude ain't a boxer the joke fight isn't even using the standard 154lb gloves for WBC sanctioned fights and in the last hour of this joke they trot out a bogus belt?
