It's hilarious how these MMA strikers all start to pull out their jiu jitsu blue belts and talk about their half assed wrestling skills when discussing about potentially fighting with boxers.

Ireland is a country that hasn't produced a single grappler of note. Conor's grappling skills are a joke compared to most other elite MMA fighters.

Yet when you ask them about Floyd or other boxers they act like they're Khabib or Demian Maia.

    Here's this Holohan dude

Another thing that many MMA guys don't understand is that MMA wrestling strength and technique isn't going to help you in a boxing clinch.

If anything in a boxing match against an MMA fighter it's wise for a boxer to initiate clinching as the MMA fighter would go to his instincts and try to outwrestle and overpower the boxer and tire himself out. You don't get points for outwrestling people in boxing.

I think Kovalev vs Ward is somewhat a good example of that. Kovalev fought too much like a wrestler in the clinch, he always tried hard to just contain Ward and overpowered him and pushed him to the ropes. This doesn't bring you any points in boxing. Ward on the other hand being a more skilled boxing infighter sneaked in body shots and then let Kovalev tire himself out with his Greco-Roman-style holding.
