  • Comments Thread For: Chris Algieri: McGregor Loses, Took Me 10-15 Fights To Transition

Former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri knows what it takes to make the transition to professional boxing and fight on the highest level. As a kid, Algieri trained in martial arts but he eventually took up kickboxing. After a solid amateur run as a kickboxer, he turned professional and won the International Sport Karate Association welterweight and World Kickboxing Association super welterweight championships. He compiled a 20-0 record as a world kickboxing champion before retiring to become a professional boxer.

      Cannot disagree with Algieri.

McGregor chances to win are minimal.

We all know that McG is going to lose (I'm using "all" here loosely). However, it's good to get insight from a guy who transitioned into boxing.... Is Algieri retired or what? Not the best boxer by any means, but a smart guy who can be a good gatekeeper or maybe slightly better. Spence didn't retire him, did he?

Everyone is not the same. For Algieri it took 10 to 15 fights to transition to boxing. For Conor, it might be more than 15 fights or less than 15 fights but most probably he won't do it in 0 (as in zero or nil) fight.

Even if he had 100 fights to get ready for Mayweather, he still likely wouldn't be ready for Mayweather. We're talking about an all time great boxer.

Chris is right, and I'm sure he wasn't fighting ATG's in his first 15 fights, let alone his very first one.

Algieri would have been a nice test fight for Mcgoober, but here we are now.

the thing is that, conor could very well transition into boxing with just 1 fight. it's just that it aint gonna be with mayweather.
