Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson: I Plan on Taking Over The Sport of Boxing

Lincoln, Nebraska is a long way from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but Shakur Stevenson doesn't mind. A year ago, he was chasing a gold medal in the 2016 Olympics. Today, he's chasing gold of a different sort in the pro boxing ring. "It flew by fast," the Silver medalist says of the last 12 months. "It feels like it was a couple months ago. I didn't expect it to go by this fast."

Okay someone didn't give Shakur the memo that you can't take over boxing when you are 2 years or more away from your first live opponent.

Sounds like we have the onset of 'Loma-itis' - a tendency towards extreme overconfidence, and an expectation to win a world title within your first 5 fights.

Maybe but he seems too nice. Needs more attitude and fire

Throw him in there with a Maidana type fighter and watch him melt.

With the way Top Rank gives you stoppages you can become a knockout machine in no time.

I only watched his debut and wasn't impressed with the hype he was receiving. I don't think he's a strong enough puncher, and he seems soft to me.
