The Delante Johnson vs Enrico La Cruz was super sloppy. I don't know what Johnson was trying to accomplish by getting close to La Cruz because it wasn't effective. He kept trying to hold instead of throwing anything with meaning, just sloppy shots.
La Cruz landed the cleaner shots in my opinion.
Not really impressed with Johnson here. He looked super sloppy and I defended him yesterday saying he wasn't sloppy.

La Cruz got the decision and I agree with that. He landed more clean shots.

I wasn't all that impressed with Johnson in the Youth World Championships to be honest. He's a talented athlete but doesn't appear to be an especially skilled boxer. Shakur displayed a lot more ring craft at the same stage

Pat McCormack looked sharp in his first fight.
He'll have to fight Giyasov in the Quarterfinals most likely.
McCormack is more talented than Giyasov.
        He just can't get overwhelmed.
And hopefully he can get a decision if he deserves it.

Pat has the talent to go all the way I think.

I wasn't that impressed either. You and I were criticizing him for just relying on his atheltecism
But since AIBA was hyping him up I thought they were going to reward him or something.

He has the best draw out of the English boxers, right? I hope he does well

If he beats Giyasov he makes it to the final.
He just has to make sure he doesn't get overwhelmed by Giyasov.
That means don't stay too close to him.
Yeleussinov stayed on the outside and made it obvious when Giyasov missed.
Iglesias let Giyasov too close and it appeared as though Giyasov was landing more than he really was.
I thought Iglesias beat Giyasov at the Olympics, but it was a close fight due to the way Iglesias fought him. Of course Iglesias has never really had the feet that Yeleussinov had.
McCormack doesn't either but he has the range to keep Giyasov away.

I think McCormack has the talent to take it all. I hope he takes it all.

Judging has been solid so far. At least from the fights I've seen.
                Hopefully it stays like this.

Kairat Yeraliyev upsets Akhmadaliev. Well deserved. Yeraliyev fought his heart out. Well deserved.
Leonel de los Santos dominated the Italian but somehow only won by split decision.
Other than that scoring has been really good so far.

I am so glad Yeraliev didn't get robbed. So far to me him and de los Santos are the best guys at 56. I hate Akhmadaliev, he is just a tough man boxing, he got outlanded like 4-1. I don't know what's up with de los Santons and the splits he is getting. His fights are not even competitive.
Sotomayor, Dunaytsev and Lopez coming up
