    • How did this punching bag from Jordan make it not only to the World Championships but apparently beat his first opponent too? Mind boggling how bad some of the fighters are

      • Great fight and great win for Melikuziev

Melikuziev is pretty good I would say.
It'll be interesting to see the Melikuziev-Ward fight in the Semifinals.

          • Does anyone want to give any Quarterfinals predictions.
I will in a bit just for fun.

            • My prediction winner in bold.

              48kg:
Joahnys Argilagos (Cuba) v. Salah Ibrahim (Germany)-I am going with the favorite but I won't be surprised if Ibrahim somehow pulls the upset. Apparently Argilagos didn't look too good in his first fight and Ibrahim is from Germany.
Vasilii Egorov (Russia) v. Zhomart Yerzhan (Kazakhstan)
Yuberjen Martinez (Colombia) v. Gankhuyagiin Gan-Erdene (Mongolia)-Tough fight but I expect the Olympic Silver medalist to win it. If he dominates then wow.
Hasanboy Dusmatov (Uzbekistan) v. Amit (India)-Val Barker winner is too good for his opponent.

              52kg:
Yosbany Veitia (Cuba) v. Gabriel Escobar (Spain)
Tamir Galanov (Russia) v. Manuel Cappai (Italy)-50-50 but based on previous results.
Kavinder Bisht (India) v. Kim In-kyu (South Korea)- Based on how impressive he looked today against an Olympian today.
Jasurbek Latipov (Uzbekistan) v. Ceiber Avila (Colombia)

              56kg:
Kairat Yeraliyev (Kazakhstan) v. Omar El-Hag (Germany)
Leonel de los Santos (Dominica Republic) v. Peter McGrail (England)-Really tough. If de los Santos can keep him at range he wins. This is his fight to lose. McGrail struggles to start offense and I could see de los Santos staying on the outside. But the judges have been pretty cruel to de los Santos despite winning his first two fight convincingly.
Bilel Mhamdi (Tunisia) v. Gaurav Bidhuri (India)-Has racked up some good wins in this tournament.
Duke Ragan (USA) v. Zhang Jiawei (China)-Another tough one but I expect Ragan's speed to pull through.

              60kg:
Lázaro Álvarez (Cuba) v. Murat Yildirim (Germany)
Otar Eranosyan (Georgia) v. Elnur Abduraimov (Uzbekistan)
Dorjnyambuugiin Otgondalai (Mongolia) v. Luis Cabrera (Venezuela)-Otgondalai suffered a big cut. I see it being stopped because of it and Cabrera has been looking pretty solid in this tournament.
Iurii Shestak (Ukraine) v. Sofiane Oumiha (France)-Shestak won a close one against a good fighter in Callum French. Oumiha didn't look too good in his first fight.

              64kg:
Eslam El-Gendy (Egypt) v. Freudis Rojas (USA)
Ikboljon Kholdarov (Uzbekistan) v. Artem Harutyunyan (Germany)- Kholdarov is the better fighter, but I just see the judges favoring Harutyunyan.
Hovhannes Bachkov (Armenia) v. Baatarsükh Chinzorig (Mongolia)
Elvis Rodriguez (DR) v. Andy Cruz (Cuba)

              69kg:
Shakhram Giyasov (Uzbekistan) v. Pat McCormack (England)-Tough one but I'm rooting for McCormack.
Ablaikhan Zhussupov (Kazakhstan) v. Gabriel Maestre (Venezuela)- I see the young buck taking it.
Byambyn Tüvshinbat (Mongolia) v. Abass Baraou (Germany)-This should be a good one. Byambyn has been putting on some great performance but Baraou's pressure and home town advantage will probably take him through in a close one.
Quinton Randall (USA) v. Roniel Iglesias (Cuba)-Easy work for Iglesias.

              75kg:
Arlen Lopez (Cuba) v. Abilkhan Amankul (Kazakhstan)
Jorge Vivas (Colombia) v. Kamran Shakhsuvarly (Azerbaijan)-I have to go with the more successful of the two.
Benjamin Whittaker (England) v. Oleksandr Khyzniak (Ukraine)-Khyzniak beat him rather easily at the European Championships and I expect him to do it again.
Israil Madrimov (Uzbekistan) v. Troy Isley (USA)-Another stoppage win for Madrimov? We will see. Either way easy work for Madrimov.

              81kg:
Julio La Cruz (Cuba) v. Ibragim Bazuev (Germany)
Shabbos Negmatulloev (Tajikstan) v. Carlos Mina (Ecuador)
Joe Ward (Ireland) v. Mikhail Dauhaliavets (Belarus)
Yerik Alzhanov (Kazakhstan) v. Bektemir Melikuziev (Uzbekistan)

              91kg:
Evgeny Tishchenko (Russia) v. David Nyika (New Zealand)
Roy Korving (The Netherland) v. Sanjar Tursunov (Uzbekistan)
Vasiliy Levit (Kazakhstan) v. Jason Whateley (Australia)
Cheavan Clarke (England) v. Erislandy Savon (Cuba)-This should be a good one. I want to see what Clarke can do against Savon.

              91+kg:
Bakhodir Jalolov (Uzbekistan) v. Kamshybek Kunkabayev (Kazakhstan)
Fokou Arsene (Cameroon) v. Cristian Salcedo (Colombia)-I don't know. Tough one. Can go either way.
Joseph Goodall (Australia) v. Maxim Babanin (Russia)
Djamili-Dini Aboudou (France) v. Magomedrasul Majidov (Azerbaijan)-Let's see if Majidov has another good tournament in him.

                • Argilagos fighting like a pressure fighter. He must have enjoyed Mayweather's performance vs McGregor

                  • Yuberjen Martinez applies crazy pressure. Won easier than I expected.
Martinez is a monster. Delivered two standing eight counts.
