Conor McGregor doesn't need any help with his confidence, but with the approval to use 8-ounce gloves in his matchup with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26 just made him even more optimistic. The Nevada Athletic Commission ruled earlier in the day the fight would use 8-ounce gloves rather than the traditional 10-ouncers mandated for any match above 147 pounds. McGregor and Mayweather agreed to a 154-pound bout.

So much for geniuses like Chris Mannix and NSB posters claiming Floyd only agreed to 8 oz gloves because he knew the NSAC would never approve them lol.

            Mannix is almost always wrong.

He's not even a boxing expert. He's just paid to pretend he's one.

And he has no idea how the sport operates.

At least he has given Conor the courtesy of gloves which a 2 ounces smaller. Infinitesimally increasing Connor's chances of landing a head shot.

To be fair to Floyd, he has been candid and honest in the lead up to this fight in saying that if Conor goes the distance it's a win for Conor.

Even as a man with Irish parents and a fan I would prefer Conor to get beat as easily as possible. I love boxing but this should hopefully nip any other MMA vs Boxing fights in the bud at this elite level. It is not good for us.

I am not talking about MMA fighters who cross over and start at area and national title level. Good luck to them and if they work their way into any title position they deserve everything they get. Vice-versa if a boxer cross over and practiced MMA and worked his way up from small MMA to the UFC or something.
