The 'Castillo the cheater' threads are getting old already. We all have our opinions and all the arguing back and forth isn't going to change anyone's mind, so what's the point?
While all the flaming and crap was going on in here I was watching Broadway Boxing on HDNET.
It was a couple of good fights on.
Gary Stark v Luis Bolano
Stark, at best, should have come out of the fight with a draw, but I had Bolano winning 5 rounds to 3. Even with the point deduction for hitting after the bell in the 8th round, Bolano should have won 76-75. Instead the cards readJudge: Julie Lederman 78-73 | Judge: **** Flaherty 77-74 | Judge: Jim Pierce 77-74 , all for Stark. Definitely a hometown decision.
Sadly, that's not the disgraceful part.
Edgar Santana fought, and his victory was very clear, and it was read that way. The disgraceful part was that before the scores were read, the commentator said something that is heard damned near every time there is a match:
"Well, this is boxing, so you never know how the judges will have it"
The fact that we, as fans, have become used to hearing this, and actually expect bad decisions to be made in the sport we all love is far more disgraceful and hurtful to this sport than Castillo's inability to make weight. In fact, in comparison, Castillo's problem are hardly a problem at all.
