You realize that Ali and Norton were the same age. Ali would have had problems with Norton even when he and Norton were younger. Between the second and third fight Norton was brutally knocked out by George Foreman and he still gave Ali fits.

And they say Golovkin is small.
Floyd started at 125 and went up to 154, Many started at featherweight and went up to 147, Duran started at 119 and went up to 160, Oscar started at 130 and went up to 168. There are countless other examples so Hagler not going up because "there was no 168 is not an excuse"

yes footwork very important. loma got best in buis right now.

norton got a late start in boxing. ali was a top contender in the early 60's and a champion by the mid 60's, and the best fighter in the world [ and the best HW i or anybody else has ever seen,] by '67. he had a hall of fame career before norton even debuted.

just if you think a debuting norton gives the ali that dominated cleveland williams anything other than a laugh.

Obv a debuting Norton would not trouble Ali at that time(Williams fight was Ali at best). But if the Norton that fought Ali COULD fight the Ali of late 60s I think he still gives him some trouble just not as much.It was Norton's jab that gave Ali fits. He was just a bad style for Ali.

He wasn't big enough for 175, he looks tiny compared to Golovkin.

Manny wasn't really big enough for 147 Floyd wasn't big enough for 154 but he fought at that weight anyways. I don't like the excuses. For as much **** as Jones gets :for not fighting the best at his peak" he sure took a chance by going up and being the bigger Luiz at HW. That's like Charlo going up and beating Parker or Wilder.

so, just because those guys grew out of the divisions they were in, doesn't have any negative reflection on hagler...

it wasn't like hagler was starving himself to stay down in a division...with same day weigh in, he often marked below 160...
