Bisping likes to strike and has never submitted anyone in the UFC. Everyone thinks that boxer is just going to allow himself to be taken down and not defend himself on the ground is ridiculous. Guess what, the boxer could also go in there and throw elbows and kicks. They have a big chance of getting submitted on the ground and an MMA fighter has a great chance of getting dropped and the boxer jumping on top of him with punches.

Dude Tim Silvia was the UFC's heavyweight champion at one stage. it wasn't ufc but it was in a cage with mma rules. Yeah mercer got beat in a cage too, but Tim Silvia was a ufc champion and mercer knocked him out cold in the cage, mercer said he heard him snoring before he realized he was knocked out.

Good, so Google helped you? Now you know who he is. Knowing **** is pretty cool isn't it? Doesn't change the fact that Mercer was 48 years old, fat and retired when he knocked Sylvia out.

James Toney the seal, James Toney the elite MW would be hell to any MMA fighter within punching range, it was a disgrace to be in that kinda shape and then be talked off as representing boxing.

The top guys in real shape from both disciplines are very dangerous people in a fight, I think if the one coming up is a action kinda fight and is exciting then this type of thing will become more common. If its a blowout it will probably kill the idea for another 30 yrs.

James would of took his head off there too if couture decided to box him like the fat Sylvia did mercer.
Way over the head of what I said and what insecure boxing fans are reacting to.

Boxers would get beat with a quick takedown and submission in the cage , and mma fighters would get embarrassed and knocked out in a boxing ring. Case closed no need to get defensive about toney getting beat in the UFC.

Not always you cant throw a blanket over either group there are classes, an elite boxer can easily land a bomb right of the get go, its far easier to train an athlete to learn to protect against takes downs than what it is to learn to avoid elite boxers punches when in punching range. Lomo or Rigo would be extremely hard to beat because of their extreme level of speed balance and precise punching.

You guys go on about boxers and MMA guys like they are all the same and one will always beat the other, well I think that's just fan talk, either side can win depending on who they are and who they fighting.

Sylvia always had a low fighting IQ. An MMA fighter will most always beat a boxer in MMA, but the MMA guy has to be smart enough to use his tools.

Sylvia fought like a COMPLETE dumb a s s! He deserved to get KTFO.

Yes of course, some boxers are street fighters also, and could get a few wins in MMA, but you make it sound like it's 50/50, and thats ridiculous.

Top 10 in MMA vs top 10 in boxing in MMA, and id be VERY surprised to see the boxers win 2 out of 10 fights. Same goes for MMA fighters that step into a ring.
