all the "stars" of big promoters, not just top rank, get preferential treatment. The major sites like boxingscene seem to be on the payroll. The sanctioning bodies, obviously.
I mean, how does badou jack, coming off a draw at 168 (even though he should have gotten the win. But he didn't), jump the line at 175 for cleverley's regular belt?
Bottom line, this stuff happens all the time. Stiverne jumped the line for the wbc title at heavyweight because he's one of don king's only remaining stars, and don king made a lot of money for the wbc and all the corrupt people in boxing in his day. So he still gets some of that quid pro quo.
It's not just top rank. Top rank seems to get more favors with the wbo, al haymon gets more with the wbc and possibly wba and ibf, i'd have to check.Comment

he beat bute and degale at 168 didnt he? Also cleverly wants the fight so that makes sense.... Badou jack is the total opposite of verdajo the hypejob... Badou jack is the black version of joe smith.... Stiverne comparison is a bit better but even he had done a lot more than verdejo has when he fought wilder.... These robberies like manny vs bradley 1 and manny vs horn1 seem to all be sanctioned by the wbo...Comment

Verdejo better look good and KO this guy... This guy is experienced, tall and according to his record, can pop. He hasn't looked good in his last few fights and, in order to prove his case, he needs a good win. Maybe a win against Lozada will not have that effect (since most people will adhere to the fact that Lozada's fights have all been in Mexico with few "top rated" opponents) but, IMHO he is not deserving of a title shot just yet. I remember watching him (Verdejo) and Christopher "Pitufo" Diaz fighting on the same cards and thinking Diaz would outshine Verdejo based on how they looked against their opposition and I think, so far, I'm right. Even with Top Rank's careful matchmaking, he hasn't looked the part of a Champion. Sigue como vas y se te va a ir la guagua Felix...Comment
