  • Comments Thread For: Valdez: Marriaga's Attitude, Training Was Off for Lomachenko

Oscar Valdez wasn't surprised Vasyl Lomachenko dominated Miguel Marriaga on Saturday night. What surprised the unbeaten WBO featherweight champion was that Marriaga agreed to take such a difficult fight on short notice. Marriaga barely had a month's notice to prepare for his shot at one of the best boxers, pound-for-pound, in the sport.

Valdez is right, the guy took a beating and went to war with him not that long ago and was pulled within near 2 months short notice while Lemonchenko been training for 3 months!

Lemonchenko needs to call out his promoter for underpaying this guys opponents!

There used to be this German boxer, Mario Veit (he's not active anymore). He fought Calzaghe and lost by KO in round 1. He pulled himself back, had some nice wins and positioned himself for a rematch, which he lost by KO6. One of the boxing commentators then wrote: 'Mario Veit made it his life mission to prove that it was a mistake - that he was not supposed to lose to Calzaghe by KO in one round! And he was right. He was supposed to be KOd in six.'.

Same thing with Marriaga. Extra conditioning may have prolonged the beating. And that's all there is.

Mmm ... I guess Andre Ward must have stayed on the P4P list for 3 years without fighting anybody because his dad was white then.
