Comments Thread For: Ellerbe Gets Heated - Fires Verbal Jabs at Arum, De La Hoya

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is usually the smooth talker when it comes to promoting Floyd Mayweather fights. But at the media workouts prior to Mayweather's August 26 showdown with Conor McGregor, Ellerbe was visibly agitated and wasted little time addressing the elephant in the room.

“Have you ever heard me say that about any of your [fights]? None of this makes any sense. But what it comes down to, it comes down to the same guys that's hating on the **** are the same guys who wanted to be a part of it. He wasn't saying that a few months ago when he openly, publicly said, ‘if Mayweather deal can't come together, I'd love to put Manny Pacquiao in there.' He wasn't saying that then.”

“When that other idiot Oscar said — and I'm saying that cause that's what I think of him and yes, I did say that — when he says the same thing. He would love to promote Conor McGregor and also he sees no other fight for him other than Canelo. Well what happened then?

That's what most sensible people have been saying, firstly they don't speak about anyone of Arum or GB promotions and secondly both express interest in doing the same thing to generate money for themselves too. They just need to look away and get on with their own businesses.

                Ellerbe has a point

You didn't hear anyone from Mayweathers team say Sh.it when Canelo was fighting in those Farce fights against Smith or Chavez or Arum put Manny /Vargas or Crawford/Postol on PPV

Boxing fans and media are the worst in sports always looking to drag down the sport and hold it back. Hate to say it but Hardcore fans don't amount to Sh.it they didn't support Ward /Kov but have the nerve to say boxing fans shouldn't support this. Who cares by the looks of it if every hardcore boxing fan boycotted this fight it would only mean what something like 150k less PPVs.

You can't put ranch on everything and always expect it to taste good. This fight is a great big pile of ****.

The hardcore fans aren't responsible for the ills of boxing. It is coincidental that cult apeal and mainstream status often don't easily coexist--and it is cult appeal which attracts hardcore following to fair degrees. Its not a causal relationship though.

Prize fighting is a mafia business. That's got more to do with its mainstream problems.

Mayweather has anything but mainstream appeal. He's a real-life Bozo the Clown.
