MMA fans can't afford to see their Irish hero.

We have heard this before with Mayweather fights, " he has no fans, this fight is not going to sell, the networks are going to lose money, everyone are going to stream the fight" etc....I have heard it all.People been doing that since the 80's bro lmfao. What are you talking about?
The difference with this fight will be MORE people will be having these lil parties & MORE people will be going into these lil sports bars &/or MORE sports bars will be showing the fight.
This fight is gonna do insane numbers. I honestly don't see how you guys aren't noticing all the people talking about this fight that NEVER talk about boxing. There were 20k-ish people at 4 different press conferences ffs. I've never seen a combined 80k-ish people attend a boxing press tour.
That said I would suggest its not a lock that I think it breaks the PPV record, cuz I think all sorts of random sh^t that only with hindsight one can fully grasp what happened could effect this fights appeal with people, but I do think worst case it'll be the 2nd biggest PPV fight of all time.
Not sure what the obsession is with some fans and Mayweather.Comment

My main betting agency doesn't offer this line unfortunately. I'd smash it at those dog oddsThe betting line is -300ish that it breaks the PPV record. That means the dog line that says it won't is +250ish probably. Thats 2.5x on your money if you legit believe it doesn't gut the old record.
I think this thing has reached freakshow levels with mainstream people & its a lot easier for people to part with minimal $ to go to their local wings joint, $40 to go to their local theater or $100 to sit their ass at home & check this out.Comment

Idr exactly, but I was much less confident in it hitting the PPV record cuz I thought the fight was past its sell by date with Manny having been KTFO recently, the fight having lil promotion & just the general hurried feeling to the event. I'm sure it did 2x the range I expected it to fall in.
I ignored the noise about the fight where mainstream fans still wanted to see the fight, still wanted to see Floyd lose & were still fans of the greater event quality of such a fight.
And I think this fight has more noise + mainstream fans wanna see a top MMA guy fight a top boxer, they still wanna see Floyd lose & they are still fans of the greater event quality of such a fight.
People mention this sorta stuff but I don't really buy it. I think people know Floyd as the most defensively strong boxer of this era & they hold no illusion about what that means or they don't even give that much of a f#ck about that title. The overwhelming majority of people who buy this fight (I'd guessimate 80%+) just wanna see an event on a Saturday night that everyone is talking about, wanna see the big fight since there hasn't been a big fight in a long time using their logic of a big fight which differs from ours as hardcore boxing fans or they wanna see Floyd get his ass kicked. They don't remember or barely do, never even saw or don't give a f#ck about Manny vs Floyd largely.I am also thinking Mayweather vs Mcgregor will not do as well as people think because of how the Floyd vs Manny fight played out, meaning both guys under performed.Comment

I will be sure to illegally pirate this event (event, not boxing match). As David Haye would say 'this is gonna be more one-sided than a gang ****'Comment

Yea its definitely a different dynamic with Floyd. I think for Floyd that dynamic is hater fans (as I call them). So while when Oscar or Manny would get overhyped & bragged on in virtually everyway cuz the fans loved them, Floyd tends to be underhyped & sh^t on in virtually everyway cuz the fans hate him.
But I believe Floyd's success is built upon the hate. I think a large % of fans had hopes that Oscar, Canelo, Manny & now Conor could take Floyd's 0 & finally humble him.Comment

You kidding, I'm in Australia and most people I know stream, the fights are a lot cheaper here for ppv aswell, haven't checked but I would assume maymac would be $40, maybe $60 tops in AUD, can't believe people would pay money for this sideshowMost people don't know sh^t about streaming. People been streaming for like a decade or whatever at this point.
Granted its getting more mainstream, but I think most cats are just gonna have a lil party like they do for PPV fights & collect $10-$25 per person or just buy it on behalf of their guests & make a night of it.Comment

Can make a night of it here, it will be Sunday arvoComment

No I'm not. Most people in the US just buy cable here still. The number of cord cutters are growing, but I don't believe its reached a critical mass point yet & when people are still plugged in they tend to go the standard way in purchasing fights, movies & etc via PPV.
And I mean just look at a random RBR of a PPV show here. There is a disturbing number of boxing forum regs who got no clue where to look for a stream. Thats insane to me for a major card, but that says to me most cats who should know where to find a stream don't know where to look.
Boxing fans in the US tend to be older too & older cats aren't homies with technology either which is probably part of the issue. If boxing in the US had more younger fans I suspect there'd be a lot more streaming going on.Comment

Fair comments, it will be interesting to see the PPV numbers afterwards, you guys never mention other counties PPV numbers, they would be good to see, foreign fighters don't do well in America on PPV due to you guys being very patriotic, but it would be great to see global numbers, if some foreign boxers were getting great numbers, maybe some more viewers might tune in to see what the fuss was about, increasing exposureNo I'm not.
