Roy Jones is a joke now. If he's lucky it will take atleast 3 decades at best for people to forget about the humiliating defeats he went through.

The timing of hanging up the gloves is a huge part of your legacy. If Roy quit after the Ruiz or even first Tarver fight things would be looking infinitely different for him now.

Another dumb thick headed fighter who just couldn't leave well enough alone.

If he stopped after the loss to Kovalev it would have been a legendary exit from the sport. Even better than Wlad's after the Joshua fight.

Instead he went though an excruciatingly humiliating KO loss that took away a big plus of his legacy(never being stopped in what, 60-70 fights?).

        Totally!

Froch lost to Peter Manfredo Jr. in the amateurs.

Froch would end up looking like Bryant Brannon flopping around.

Real fans of RJJ don't wanna see him hurt. He has passed his prime long ago. This is the hurt business and after the lights and camera actions, all fighters deserve to go back to their family with their faculties intact. Roy Jones should stop fighting, sometimes you have to put rules in place to save fighters from themselves.

Rjj's legacy is not tarnished. What he could do in prime is what he will be remembered for.
To imply yoiu can tarnish your legacy is to make boixers not take risks.
Ali's rep is not tarnished by losing to who he did at the end so rjj won't as well.
We just don't see rjjj as Superman now after losses

Not much can tarnish Roy's legacy, much like getting abused by Holmes and Berbick didn't hurt Ali's at all.

That said, Wlad was 39 when he lost a very close fight to a huge guy in Fury when most other heavies are washed up by the age of 35-36.

Not Really. He is still competitive on a world level even if he's not a title contender. If he enjoys fighting still, I see no reason why he shouldn't as long as he's safe.

On that note, to me Roy has nothing else to prove and I want him to ride off into boxing history with less than 10 losses.

                      Sadly, I agree.

Roy Jones was the greatest fighter of my lifetime and yet we see him as a joke.

Floyd Mayweather wouldn't be getting called "TBE" by his fans if Roy retires after Ruiz.
