  • canelos next move...

what happens after he loses in september? Will he use the tried and tested weight class excuse and drop back down to 154? Or will he stay at middleweight and try to be 'the best of the rest'.
After another loss to an elite fighter, where would canelos standing in the sport be? Would he still be 'the face of boxing'? Does a loss to golovkin knock him out of the pound for pound list?
Where does he go after the golovkin fight?

He will get a Angulo type of opp and act like he never lost like he did with Floyd

Canelo is gonna surprise a lot of cats & win in September. He'll fight Cotto in a rematch or Davey later in the year I believe (not sure if there is a mandatory on deck so might be off here if there is a mandatory). From there I think we just see him fight a random guy or two (assuming a mandatory will come into play by this point for sure) & maybe he'll line up Charlo, a GGG rematch (if its close), Jacobs or some other solid name/top guy for Sept 2018 or May 2019.

"After he loses" - LOL he's going to win as long as he doesn't get KO'd and it's close. My prediction is he's going to win a controversial decision and they will do it again. I don't see him going back to 154. He's grown out of that weight class now.

I think the good bigger man beats the good smaller man. Being elusive for 12 rounds sounds good but Golovkin just might be too powerful, guys.

            But yes, Cotto or Lemieux...

If he wins Lemieux wouldn't be a bad fight, either him, Saunders or Jacobs would be ideal.

Win or lose, I think he should make a run for Saunders belt. That's an easy win for him IMO. If he beats GGG, he's the shot caller at 160, which likely leaves Charlo and Jacob's on the outside looking in. I see more catch weights in Canelo's future regardless. Wouldn't mind seeing him and Spence at some point if Spence is serious about moving up in weight. Perhaps 155 - 157?

He'll probably go back down to 154. Anything to save face.
