This is the business model, if you can't fight a name fight a bum and pay him scraps so ur fighter eats the same. As a promoter I'm promising you a wage, but you're work is entirely different. I love workers eating but I'd prefer fighters getting paid what the bout is worth on both ends. No fight should be 14-1 as both are expending blood sweat and tears. Lower level opponents get fair paydays for big names, will make promoters work harder and raise training abilities of said scrub

lool dil was saying on an interview that its a keep busy fight and that hearn doesn't have a big budget for a better name as it's a top rank show and not a matchroom one.

all you uk guys making excuses and justifying this bs fight need to stop. gerald washington was in camp for months since even before he helped wladmir out for the joshua fight and jarrell miller basically took the fight on a month and some change notice. this aug 19th card with whyte has been known for awhile and you telling me in his 22nd fight, he's fighting a guy thats been on his couch for 10years before something made him want to fight again lol. this guy fought joshua like 3-4 fight ago. uk fighters in every division are notorious for easy domestic fights. uk fighters are scared to lose in america

'The UK based promoter made a substantial offer to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder to cross the pond but was rebuffed as Wilder said that he would need an even bigger offer to defend his title on the challenger's home soil.'

Is there no excuse Wilder hasn't come up with yet? Soon it will be 'Sorry I'm washing my hair that night', or 'sorry, I need to help my Ma finish the hedges.' Then finally ' I don't fight guys who wear white. White signifies a throwback to racial hegemony over African Americans, and it would be disrespectful of me to fight a man who wears white sports gear, further, Dillan Whyte has a name that is disagreeable, so I must look for an opponent on short notice, perhaps Evander Holyfield's dad could step up.'

Then again, maybe it's just his promotional team, in which case are rapidly devaluing Wilder's capital in boxing and unless he lines up a satisfactory opponent post-haste, many fans will simply write him off as another Adonis Stevenson.

Malcolm Tann is 24(13ko's)5(3ko's)0 who has faced and lost against Arreola, and Dimitrenko. He's 38, and according to the transnational boxing rankings is ranked no 137!

He's not even qualified as a light sparring partner. Since when did Whyte need such a monumental tune-up?

Then again why am I surprised? The powers that be can't even line up a decent fight between Wilder and someone other than Boring Stubborn. His indignation and refusal to step aside is a slap in the face of fans who have no interest in that rematch. They'd rather see Wilder tested by someone marginally challenging in Pulev.

But in the HW division just thinking about an exciting match up is over-reaching. Whyte will punch this guys block off in the first two rounds, then he'll call out everyone from AJ to Mayweather, then go back to picking club fighters.

If it's just a keep busy fight then fair enough. Still seems a long way to go for a stay busy 8 rounder or something.

Whyte, love him or hate him, is a top ten-ish, top twenty-ish guy in the world right now. Malcom Tann, 38, has won 1 fight in a decade, & that was to a younger guy who had a completely manufactured undefeated 9-0 record (only 1 W vs a guy with a winning record in more than 10 fights & that guy was 45yrs old & had been KO'd in 5 of his last 6 fights).

This is an unsanctionable fight if boxing made any damn sense. Shame to the Nebraska commission. This is an embarrassment beyond normal embarrassments with sanctioning fights. I'd like to hope if something bad happens in this fight or a similarly poorly made fight someone sues the f#ck outta the Nebraska commission for negligence &/or dereliction of duty &/or whatever a government body could possibly be sued for with something like this.
100% truth. Who ever signed it off should be liable for any injuries suffered as a result of this fight along with the insurance company for providing the coverage/policy. I wouldn't underwrite any insurance for Tann. Too much liability.
