Comments Thread For: Is heavyweight division in better place with Klitschko Brothers retired?

By Andreas Hale - The announcement came out of nowhere although many of us expected it to come sooner than it did. And, frankly, there are more than enough people who are ecstatic that the end has finally come. Rather than face Anthony Joshua in a rematch, Wladimir Klitschko has decided that it was time to walk away from boxing at the age of 41. The second-longest reigning...

You can say what you want about the Klitschko brothers the fact is they kept on winning.

Yes and no. I hate the fact that there are numerous champions who likely wont fight each other.

Vlad fights were so awful that they wouldn't even air here in the states....he singled handedly killed the heavyweight divison during his reign. There's a reason why Joshua is viewed as the savior of the heavyweight division when he beat Klitschko.

Very true, but in their era, Wilder, Joshua, Ortiz or Fury could have ruled for just as long (excluding when Lennox was at the end of his run). Now saying this, in their primes-both Klitschko bros would beat the hell out of any of the HW fighters today...and if one brother got unlucky, then the other brother would avenge that loss.

The problem with the Klits is that they held the division hostage when they were on top because theyd never fight each other.

Now at least we might have some clarity if we can get AJ and wilder to unify 3/4 major belts.

Trash. They dominated in the weakest era of the HW division

Who knows...It seems like they are going to let a fight with AJ and Wilder sit on the shelf and brew for quite a while, and Parker doesn't look to even want to be in the mix....hell, he was AJ's mandatory even before he got a gift for his vacant title.

I do believe it is more equal in terms of who can win with the fighters....but the best haven't even discussed facing one another yet.
