I've given Wilder a lot of **** in the past but the way things have played out recently, he's right. It's time to make this fight.

It's the perfect way to end the boxing calendar for the year. It would cap off the greatest single year of competition in the sport since probably the 90s.

It would sell over 1 million in the UK and would threaten 1 million in the US too with the way boxing has been covered recently by the media (Especially ESPN). People give Floyd a lot of **** but his little stunt with Conor has people talking about boxing again. On the back end of Canelo v. GGG, this fight has the potential to usher the sport into a new era. That would make 4 PPV fights this year of 1 million plus buys. It could be a special moment.

Who gives a f.uck about mandatories? Wladimir retired and Fury is on the shelf. Joshua-Wilder is the biggest fight that can be made in the division. If the ABC boys don't wanna play ball, f.uck em. Vacate the belts and fight anyway. Whether this thing is for 10 belts or no belts, it's gonna sell the same. And be for THEE universally recognized heavyweight championship of the world. Belts and mandatories aren't a reason for this not to happen.

Wilder's usual big talk, knowing the REAL story so he can 'safely' trash talk with no repercussions:

The IBF stripped Fury because he had a contractual mandatory rematch with Wlad. They would have already stripped AJ if he had to make a defense next. He doesn't. AJ just won the other belts and was going to fight Wlad in a rematch. Wlad doesn't even have a title.

Wilder wants the big fights. He was supposed to be Wlad's next optional before Fury got the upset. He has called out Fury. He has called out Parker. Fury and Parker and AJ have all refused to fight Wilder. That is just the truth.

Now that doesn't make Wilder's resume and choice of opponents anything other than ridiculous. When you can't get the big dogs, the big money, the way to get the top guys to fight you is to convincingly beat all the second tier opponents as you can. Ortiz will be ok, Pulev, Whyte, these are the guys Wilder should be fighting instead of Arreola and whoever else. Blame Wilder for refusing to fight the 5-15 ranked heavyweights, but the top guys won't fight him. Can't blame them though, Pulev should be a semi-easy win, if Tyson Fury ever can fight again, that would be bigger money in UK, and same with Parker- and Parker (or Hughie Fury if he wins) would be a more sure-fire win for AJ.

Blame AJ for not fighting Wilder. But blame Wilder for his resume. It isn't either or. I'm a Wilder fan (I'm American after all) but I do kind of like AJ. Also, think AJ is the best HW in the world and would probably beat Wilder.

Good post. But I disagree on two things here. Fury was actually stripped because of Kathy duva, and wilder doesn't have the more known names on his resume because he's been avoided by almost literally every named you think he should already have. If you remember, glazkov was the ibf mandatory the night fury fought Wladimir. Everyone already knew a rematch was coming. But duva told the ibf that very next Monday that they won't be stepping aside and wanted an immediate purse bid. Fury said #^!^ and gave up the belt. It was much more than the rematch clause. Point two.... the same guy glazkov at that time was in negotiations with wilder for a fight in January. Instead he then became the Co main event for the ibf belt on that same card, and left wilder without an opponent. Meaning, he ducked wilder and went for a vacant belt against a weaker Martin. Wilder then offered a fight to pulev who was coming off a 1st round blowout, and was more than in shape to take the fight. He turned it down. Wilder offered the fight to the #2 wbc guy....Anthony Joshua. Hearn said he wasn't ready yet. He said Briggs could get it if he passed the drug test. We now know why he didn't get the fight. Ortiz was with golden boy and the war was on, Jennings was the 1st option before glazkov but passed to be ko'd by Ortiz, breazeale turned down fight, and it was only #8 wbc contender szpilka who saved the card by taking the fight on very short notice. This is right before the pedvetkin shame. Just an example of how wilder is avoided in the division. It was worse before he won the belt. If we're gonna question his record.....we gotta question who he fought, and why he didn't fight these "top" guys.
