Comments Thread For: Arum: UFC Has Taught Us a Loss Isn't Death Sentence for Fighters

If Oscar Valdez had dominated Miguel Marriaga, promoter Bob Arum wouldn't have been able to bring back Marriaga to face Vasyl Lomachenko in his next fight. Marriaga made Valdez earn his unanimous-decision win, though, which is among the reasons Arum and his matchmakers deemed Marriaga an acceptable opponent for Lomachenko once a preferred rematch with Orlando Salido fell through.

All the greats had many losses before cage-fighting was even a concept! Boxing has not learned anything from this sh(i)t sport

; on the contrary they cherry picked the refined aspects of our sport that took over a century to achieve legitimacy and acceptance such as : rounds, ten-point must system, general rules of combat such as eliminating headbutts, poking the eyes, biting, hitting a 'down-opponent' lol , wearing gloves, mouth guards , the Muhammed Ali act, allowing multiple promotions for the good of the fighters -- stop referencing this garbage circus show as the ideal state for boxing.

“UFC has taught us that a loss is not a death sentence,” Arum said. “If a guy loses a fight, but he loses heroically and he gives a hundred percent, people wanna see him fight again and you can bring him back again."

Hasn't that been in true in boxing BEFORE the UFC was even a thing? Why is Arum sucking the UFC's **** here? More sh^t to this then the actual comment or Arum forgot boxing's own history cuz if you look back at the great fighters they often have double digit losses & there are even guys who have "MMA records" with 2/3 W's vs 1/3 L's.
