Comments Thread For: Manager: Retirement Right Move Because Klitschko Lost 'Fire'

As much as Bernd Boente wanted to see Wladimir Klitschko avenge his loss to Anthony Joshua, Klitschko's manager thinks the former heavyweight champion made the right decision to retire.

Agree. Idk about losing the fire or not, but idk the purpose of fighting on. He's got money, he's got a legacy, he's got some good wins, he's gotten old, as everyone does, & he's getting beaten lately.

Whats the point in moving forward in your boxing career when all those good things have happened & the bad things are starting to happen? There absolutely isn't one.

Respect to Wlad's career & accomplishments & I look forward to watching Wladimir Klitschko Jr in another 20-25 years when he turns pro (after being born first of course).

Lost fire? yet that was the best Klitschko we seen in years, the most aggressive and vicious throwing bad intentions in his shots going for a KO.

He sure didnt fight like a man who lost the fire it was as if he recaptured the fire in that fight.

Maybe he retired because he knows his body is no longer the same? but his fire cameback for that fight, body he couldn't hold up

Great decision, Wladimir went out with a top notch performance at 41 and can hold his head high. One of the greatest heavyweights of all time!

Well, understandable. He gave it a hell of a shot against Joshua. It might be years before Joshua is exposed like he was in those mid rounds again.

Has anyone ever seen a higher profile sparring partner than Paulie? He won't shut up. He was probably hired as a co-promoter and to do some sparring on the side.

I'm happy with his decision. I think Joshua has his number now and would walk through him in a rematch. No shame in that - Joshua's a special talent and has youth on his side.

If it was Fury lined up and not Joshua then I think he'd be taking the fight. The loss to Fury seemed to hurt him a lot more and I bet he'd have been able to motivate himself to avenge that.
