Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez, Beltran To Sit Down To Discuss Return

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, who will turn 44 years old this month , was training to reappear on August 19 after more than three years of inactivity, but a left shoulder injury delayed his eventual return to the ring. Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions is working closely with Marquez. He has a set date and a location, but he's yet to receive verbal confirmation from Marquez to solidify the show.

I would like to see him have 1 more fight too. Yes he's 44 but we have to remember that he takes care of himself outside the ring and despite having lots of fights has only really been beat convincingly/badly once (against Mayweather). Who should he fight? There was some talk of Cotto at 154 which I wouldn't mind seeing but it might be better for him to fight either Pacquiao or Horn at 147 if he can still make that weight. Since he's always been one of my favorites I would just like to see him go out on top. He doesn't need to fight any prime killers at this point, Pacquiao or Cotto are both logical to me. Although I really don't need to see him beat Manny a 4th time I think their "series" is over and done with.

I agree. He was never going to get a better/bigger ending than that!

I love Manny. But I knew someone was going to get stopped.

He had Juan hurt really bad and then he walks into that damn punch.

I wont lie that hurt bad for a couple days. lol

That was the definition of "walking into" a punch. You know it's bad when someone falls forward, I thought his career was definitely over, or maybe even worse

Kinda crazy how The Bobfather has still got him fighting 5 years later.
