Comments Thread For: Yuriorkis Gamboa Begins Comeback on August 12 in Cancun

Once regarded as one of the best Cuban talents in the sport, Yuriorkis Gamboa, will begin the hard road back on August 12th at the Oasis Arena in Cancun, Mexico. Back in May, Gamboa was upset by tough Mexican super featherweight contender Robinson Castellanos, who dropped Gamboa in the third and fourth rounds before the contest was stopped in the seventh.

Last chance pick your real weight division. Pick the best Cuban trainer. Train as hard as you can gradually step up competition if you win you get one last title shot

Why, oh why? Yuri's career is toast. It was sad enough to watch the end, now comes an even sadder chapter...if that's even possible. Let's hope it's short.

You hit on one of his biggest problems. Gamboa has been using his father as his trainer for the last few fights. It's not a coincidence that they've all been rapidly descending performances. If Yuri had stuck to Salas, or any good professional trainer, he might've succeeded. As it is, Gamboa's career is down the toilet. The flush came in his last fight versus journeyman Castellanos, where Yuri quit. A criminal waste of talent.

So is Golden Boy Promotions going to give Gamboa one more shot or is that shop sailed?
