Yeah because the 130lbs division is stacked full of fighters pulling in crowds of 15,000.

The other fighters in the division would be lucky to pull in the 3400 that Davis is saying isn't enough.

I'd have more respect for Davis if he just come out and said he's not ready for that kind of fight yet and still needs more fights rather than insulting peoples intelligence with bull**** excuses that make no sense.

If you aren't going to fight the guy, you need to keep his name out of your mouth. You only make yourself look bad, admitting you're scared.

Very disappointing to see because Gervonta is an exciting young fighter who many boxing fans like myself would probably love to start rooting for and get invested in his career, but by being a ducker and then using phony bull**** excuses like this to try to cover it up and put the blame on the champion instead, he makes it impossible for fans to support him or root for him.

And it just keeps happening especially with American boxers advised by Haymon or Mayweather. Why do they have to keep essentially ruining all these young exciting American boxers for the fans? Why can't American fans have a "good guy" boxer for once, a Haymon boxer like GGG or Lomachenko but American who actually chases all the best fights and talks about respecting the sport instead of this fake "that guy who draws at least as much as I do doesn't draw enough for me to fight him" bull****?

The only ones who give me hope for that lately out of Haymon's stable are JRoc, Spence, and Thurman, plus I am finally coming around to DSG after he finally stepped up to fight Thurman if he does take another tough fight next, but I feel like the large majority of the boxers these guys advise or manage just start ducking right away and it makes it impossible for fans to like them. When their talent could actually be worth having lots of fans if they would just respect the sport and not pull **** like this. It's very disappointing.
To be fair I don't think this is just a Haymon / Floyd groupie thing. You see it the world over, obviously nobody wants to take a fight unless they feel like they've at least got a shot at winning, and most fighters will quite naturally be scared of losing because it can damage their careers. But you can't come out and say that because it looks like cowardice, which as a professional fighter is one thing you can't afford to show. So they cover it up with BS about money or other excuses.

Of course, the problem is that it's easy to see through it. That said I'm not going to rag on Davis specifically for saying this. It's just one more unfortunate fact of life in the fight game.

When Loma won the title, there was no issue with him taking on lower level opponents. People have no problem with him defending against Marriaga next even though he is coming off a loss. Yet they demand Gervonta fight Loma next?

Why the difference? Look, if you hate Gervonta because he works with Floyd that is fine but posters shouldn't complain about his level of opposition when you are fine when fighters better than him like Loma take on less than the best.
