Adrien Broner thinks he has mastered the shoulder roll defense, yet he hasn't! He thinks you score points for not being hurt by punches that repeatedly land on his body and face! He thinks if he lands one or two counter right hands that he won the round! I'm not sure if AB could beat Robert Easter Jr. @ 140! He's definitely NOT on the same level with Garcia and Crawford! If Mikey fights Linares next, Broner should face Omar Figueroa Jr. @ 140! If he loses that one, then he should hang 'em up!

There are still fights out there for him, like others said Khan would be a decent fight, and the rogue's gallery of b-grade former challengers and paper belt champions to snack on. He can still subsist on that sort of opposition because for better or worse his personality draws attention with draws eyes to his fights

If he wants to become truly successful again though, he needs to change his philosophy to the way he approaches fights, if not arguably his whole life. He tries to emulate Mayweather in too many ways, whether it's throwing cash around like it's nothing and getting into drama outside the ring, or trying and failing to imitate Mayweather's strategies and habits in fights. Mayweather spent nearly his whole life learning those, you can't just copy them and expect them to work no matter how talented you are, and this back-foot defensive mindset goes completely against his actual talents, ie. hitting hard and sharp from all angles, and puts him way behind on the scorecards in too many fights.

The thing is, like the article touches on, he seems too blindly arrogant to actually make the changes he needs. Eventually even the casual fans will get clued on to him, and the big money fights are going to dry up. This is probably going to put a lot of pressure on him because despite the fact that he's made a hell of a lot of money this is a guy who literally flushes money down the toilet. Eventually the partying, the fast cars, the women and the lawsuits are going to take their toll on his bank account and he's gonna be broke. He'll end up having a mental breakdown by then, if he doesn't before. He's already said he's considered suicide on social media, and I honestly wouldn't be shocked to find out that he decided to go through with it at some point.

The thing is, it seems like he's never had anyone around him to teach him discipline or common sense, and he hit the big time when he was still pretty much a kid. With a lot of the great fighters of the past who came onto they've had some hardass trainer who's almost like a father figure, whether it's Angelo Dundee, Teddy Atlas, Emmanuel Steward etc. Broner's team all seem almost as childish as him, and they come off as groupies rather than trainers. If Broner's gonna go back to what made him so successful, then he needs a guy like that. He doesn't need to do anything special, just tell him to be more aggressive and to let his hands go and to kick his ass when he doesn't listen or goes off doing ****** BS that gets him in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Really enjoyed the fight on Saturday.

But now that Broner's lost to Mikey, going forward his best options are to make interesting exhibition fights with guys who are at their own crossroads.
Broner isn't going to beat Crawford, in fact he almost certainly would get stopped for the first time IMO.

They could match him with Matthysse maybe. That or he is going to get called up by guys at 147 looking for a win. Broner isn't in a great position.

Saturday was a really legitimately interesting fight to watch. I saw a better fight beat an arguably better athlete.

Broner had faster hands all night, lots of high twitch movement and apparent athletic ability. But Mikey Garcia is a better fighter, and he completely outworked him. Mikey just occupies a calmer and more collected headspace, while Broner operated with an anxiousness and no actual gameplan or objectives.

Look at Broners opponents and record not much there at all

Paulie Mags basically beat the Brone. Maidana pounded Brone as did Short Port. Now little Mickey Garcia dismantled the impish bad boy Broner. Broners needs to fight Crawford and Danny garcia or even weak quitter Vic Ortiz. Broner cannot beat any top fighters but Vic Quit Ortiz is an even scrap for the gutter bad child foul mouth Broner.

Now he's only a name for young contenders to jump over promoter should be very wary about him because he does not give 100% effort if he moves to 147 he's looking at several knockout losses..

The concise statement in the article was "Broner is just a bit below the best in the world." So true. The fact that he's a street thug/punk with absolutely no class doesn't help his cause. Time for him to move on. He can't compete with today's elite fighters. His head shaking and prancing around doesn't cut it anymore when the goods aren't being delivered to the fans.
