Of course he would be, in your scenario. Mikey Garcia is an American citizen, therefore he is American. End of story. I saw The Fight as A Fight between 2 American Fighters, 1 from Ohio, the other from California. That's it.Comment

American isn't a race. Neither is Mexican I suppose. They're nationalities. Mexicans are considered Hispanic, a name given to them by another group. Ask any Mexican if him/her is the same as a Puerto Rican (also considered Hispanic). I'll wait. Also, I rest my case.
Or Guatemala. Or el Salvadoran. Or Argentinian. I could go on but my point is clear. Griff/stax knows exactly what I'm talking about. Don't let his feigned ignorance sway what is already common knowledge.Comment

It's about genetics, not location. When you see Mikey you don't think "look at that Irish fella over there" because you can clearly see he is of Mexican heritage.
So is Broner African-American or just American?Comment

You are what you eat and you are where you live. He's Mexican by heritage, but an American product. His mentality, his way of thinking and experience of living in America have shaped who he is. There's a tough hue Mexican boxers carry from their upbringing into the ring. He'll never be a Barrera, Morales or JCC. He's Oscar-lite.Comment
