    The embattled president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) defiantly claimed on Saturday that he was still in charge of the body despite moves by rival executives to oust him. In a phone interview with AFP from Taipei, Wu Ching-kuo accused his AIBA rivals of trying to pull off "a military coup" and insisted the no confidence vote passed against him was illegitimate.

      You'd think that if anything in boxing was going to be clean-cut and well organised it'd be AIBA, but that's obviously not the case, both with this and obvious officiating corruption at the last two Olympics as well as baffling decisions such as the one to allow pros to compete. I hope that they do succeed in getting rid of this guy and roll back most of the nonsense that's crept into elite amateur boxing.

              AIBA are idiots for removing head gear from olympic boxing.

              They have to fight waay to frequently to have any chance at recovering from a cut.

              Why do you think they use headgear in sparring?
