Comments Thread For: Farhood Shocked That Broner is Such a Big Underdog With Garcia

Hall of Famer and Showtime Boxing commentator, Steve Farhood, is shocked that former four division champion Adrien Broner is a 5-1 underdog against Mikey Garcia, who is moving up from the lightweight division to face Broner at the junior welterweight limit of 140-pounds.

I can understand Mikey Garcia being the favorite, but 5-1? That shocked me, and you really have to ask the question, how big a fight is this for Adrien Broner? If he loses, where is he at?"
It's a career fight for him. If he loses it's curtains I'm thinking, if he wins then he's back for some more lucrative fights.

After seeing the weigh-in I'm starting to favour broner. I'm not convinced that Garcia is big enough for 140 and he could have taken an easier first fight at the weight. He should be commended for taking this fight and I hope he wins but it won't be easy.

whys it a shock? he barely sc****d by shot to **** malignaggi, many thought hte lost to ponce de loean, he didnt look great against grandos, and his two world class opponents beat him by wide decisions. If it wasnt for the way broner acted outside the ring there would be no real interest in broner, hes just an average fighter. he'll get pummelled tonight just like he always does against world class opposition.

Broner is now 2 1/2 -1 under dog ...half those odds.

            Looking forward to this one.

I was in agreement early on with Farhood, but now the odds are more reasonable.

Mikey should be the favorite & mainly off of Broner goofing away a couple years in boxing more then Mikey being some 140lb Tyson or some such sh^t. Could argue they are still too wide in favor of Mikey I suppose, but they were crazy wide & seemed too based on Broner's failings out of the ring vs what he's capable in the ring.

I don't necessarily favor Broner yet but i've always said it will be a competitive fight due to the size difference and Broner being a good puncher and having a good chin. What I saw at the weigh in, man Mikey is looking really average physique wise. He looks soft. Broner could really get the upset here, it's a good possibility.

I agree Broner is that that good, but no one has looked great against Granados.

I actually agree with Farhood about the 5-1 odds in favor of Mikey being too wide . Broners a Big , Strong dude at 140 . While Mikey looked a little pudgy at the weigh in .
