Sure, size matters but sometimes huge size causes more disadvantages than advantages. Giant boxers have always been around but the best heavyweights in history were usually not giants. Huge 240 to 280 pound boxers often lack the speed, skill, endurance and coordination of 185 to 225 pound heavyweights. I think Marciano beats Mercer, Bowe KOs Patterson, Dempsey KOs Haye, Tunney might outpoint Wilder {not sure}, and Vitali might KO Louis[not sure].
No BS, Who fights?

Mercer was 3-4 inches taller and 40+ pounds bigger than Marciano...Also was an Olympic medalist. Iron chin, savage puncher, stood toe to toe with Lewis,Holyfield,Holmes etc... I say Mercer stops Rocky mid fight.
Bowe we agree.
Now Joe Louis vs Vitali Klitschko.. I say Vitali. Vitali was 6'7, Louis was 6'2...Vitali weighed 250+ pounds,Louis 215ish...Vitali is ONLY heavyweight champion in history to never be KNOCKED DOWN, Vitali was beating Lennox Lewis on the scorecards when their fight was stopped... And he had an almost 88% KO ratio. I say the size difference nullifies the skill difference (obviously Louis waaayyy better) but I say Vitali mid to late rounds KO. Lennox Lewis couldn't hurt him, no way Joe Louis could.
David Haye vs Dempsey...
Again, the sports changed. David Haye is bigger, faster, stronger, more explosive and Imo would easily spark a swarming jack Dempsey with precision placed power shot counters.
Wilder vs Tunney... I know Tunney had a crazy record of 65-1 or something, I've only seen a few highlights so I actually don't know a lot about him...BUT Wilder is 6 inches taller, weighs about 25 pounds more, huge reach advantage, and I'm gonna assume a pretty clear power advantage. I'd say Wilder would win by windmill KO.Comment

Mercer's best win was Tommy Morrison. He lost to Jesse Ferguson, a far inferior fighter to Marciano. Fought to a draw with a guy who has ten fights while Mercer was supposed to be prime. Rocky fought guys close to Mercer's size who were better boxers such as Walcott.Mercer was 3-4 inches taller and 40+ pounds bigger than Marciano...Also was an Olympic medalist. I mistakenly thought it was Wlad and not Vitali. I don't think Louis KO's Vitali, but I think he could outbox him to a decision win.
Dempsey and Tunney were far superior boxers than Haye and Wilder. Dempsey had underrated defensive skills and explosive power, I think he KO's Haye in mid to late rounds. Wilder is wild and awkward, so if he lands one of those big right hands it could be lights out for Tunney, but I'm not sure he'd land one flush on Tunney, he was also a defensive master.Comment

The sports changed so much though. Back then it was so much more raw fighting, guys always had their hands down, throwing big, wide, telegraphed shots. I'm litterally watching Dempsey videos now lol and I swear, imagine Dempsey in a gym today hitting the hand pads, would he look like a legend or an amateur? The sports so much more fast, technical, same way other sports have changed. Training, nutrition etc everything so much more advanced. Honestly I'd say Andrew Tabiti would beat Dempsey today. The footwork, the speed, the countering, the training, no way Dempsey would beat a top pro his size today..imo obviously.Mercer's best win was Tommy Morrison. Watch footage of Primo Carnera vs. Schaff and Sharkey, then watch Vitali vs. Briggs...same movement, same stance, same choppy, awkward styles and similar in size. Louis made easy work of Carnera who was considered a hype-job in his day, yet mirrors Vitali in most aspects. The sports changed so much though. As for Haye, he's never beaten anyone that would indicate he could handle Dempsey. I don't see it.Comment

I really disagree with you. Rocky may have the single greatest chin the sport has ever seen and a nuclear bomb for a right hand.Wow really?
I'd say Mercer Ko's Marciano
Bowe Ko's Patterson
I'll take Vitali Klitchsko over Louis too, Lennox couldn't hurt him and Lennox was 6'5 250...Louis is like 6'2 215-220
Remember, I'm saying Vitali not ***** ass Wlad.
David Haye is 6'2 215ish explosive puncher...Dempsey 5'11 190 pounds...I think David Haye would KO him, different type of power.
Tunney was 6'0 and 190-200...if 6'6 225 Wilder lands one of those windmill rights I don't see him taking it. I got Wilder by KO
Joe Louis might be the GOAT.
Jack Dempsey knocked out giants.
And Tunney despite his size is world's better of a boxer than Wilder and definitely would have taken to and beat him in a decision.Comment

Another thread about opinions
Take some of the dumbest, most ill-informed, most susceptible to marketing bull**** people on the planet, throw them in a room, and ask their ****ing opinion all goddamn day and what have you got?
Good ol BoxingScene ennit?
List all the accolade that make your ***** wetter than the other guys. Him chin doe, him beat x, y, n ,z doe. WTF? Can you picture a fight with the words you used? Nope. so maybe, once, ever, actually tell me how you silly monkeys see these fights going.
Him so big doe is a five year old's explanation. You need **** all no knowledge for that and only an opinion.
But him fight no one doe, boxrec whore's knowledge, you need **** all understanding of this sport to form that opinion.
