Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr. Wants a Showdown With Tony Bellew

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. wants a piece of former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew, according to Bellew's head trainer Davd Coldwell. Jones (65-9, 47 KOs), 48 years old, has been out of the ring since a February wipeout of bare-knuckle brawler Bobby Gunn. Prior to that, in 2016, he picked up two easy wins - including a two round stoppage over a fan who won a contest to face him.

Roy Jones Jr. is an embarrassment to American boxing.

You would think getting knockout by euro-bum Enzo Maccarinelli would of been the last we seen of this washed up PED cheat...but no the worst is yet to come.

Respect to Bellew for not wanting to fighting his childhood hero. He realises RJJ is way way past it. This is what Holmes and Berbick should have done when they were offered to fight a sick, speech slurred Ali.

Bellend will duck the former P4P #1.

              He can't handle that speed.

I will never fight him. Never let your idols become your rivals. I’ve idolised that man since I was a kid, he’s the greatest fighter that ever lived. If he retired after the John Ruiz fight everyone would agree with me. He’s a legend and an icon, and I’m so proud that he knows me. I will never fight him

Roy Jones was the most amazingly athletically skilled boxer ever seen, and a near-prime Roy easily outboxed Bellew. But please, this fight shouldn't happen now. Roy is past it and Bellew would knock him out badly. Call it a day and save what good health is left Roy.
