Obviously, the resumé isn't there yet but the skills are comparable. The counterpunching skills are on point and he is a good attacker when he needs to be the aggressor. That straight right is lethal and you can say the same about his left hook. He also knows when to use body shots. I would've loved to see him get trained by Nacho to improve his feints. But he has the qualities of a great boxer puncher.
Skill-wise, is Mikey Garcia every bit as good as JMM?

His fight with Broner should show if he has the potential to be as good as Marquez or not.He should return to 135 unless making 135 is hard for him. He originally said he will return to 135 after he fights Broner. That would be smart. A boxer who fights at his ideal fighting weight has the best chance for success. Fighting at a weight that is too heavy is a good way for an excellent fighter to get beat. -

This a serious question? Lol
NO.. garcia is nowhere near Marquez
He isnt even in Juan Estrada's league in terms if skills.
There are many active fighters who are much more skilled than Garcia.Comment

We saw Marquez vs prime Pacquiao, Barrera, Salido (he had an easier time with a prime Salido), John, Casamayor when he was lineal champ, prime undefeated Diaz, Bradley.
I know you're alluding to ignoring resumes but it's hard when in comparison Mikey has: Salido, Martinez, Lopez, Zlaticanin, Burgos, Rojas...he's really lacking. Anyone with good skills like Mikey will shine so much better against lesser fighters.
If we see Mikey vs guys like Crawford, Easter, Lomachenko, Postol, Barthelemey, this would tell us more about his skills. Yeah they're obviously good, but are they consistently good at the top level?Comment
