He brought up too much random literature and book stuff for me while trying to push these awkward comparisons to some fight we just watched. He was like a dumber, drunker, less charming version of Christopher Hitchens.

He gave boxing an intellectual weight that someone like Bernard cannot do on commentary. Larry elevated the sport with his commentary.

When Manny was part of the commentating team he would keep the other guys from spewing nonsense. Sometimes I miss Merchant because he would sometimes contradict Max and Jim.

He couldn't do it forever. I just wish someone other than Kellerman had taken his spot.

Glad he's gone. Hope Lampley the bitter woman beating hypocrite follows him out the door.

Maybe we can finally get people who like boxing to cover the sport. Sick of these old jaded motha****ers who have never thrown a punch in their life, and don't do nothing but **** on the sport, while pissing and moaning about the athletes putting their bodies on the line and the fights they're being paid to watch. Imagine if an NFL broadcaster called a Patriots game and did nothing but whine and cry about how overrated Tom Brady is or how boring the Patriots are. And then imagine if he took it upon himself to tear down Brady's legacy and heckle him in post fight interviews. That's Merchant. He's been nothing but a cancer on the sport. He's one of the main reasons mainstream media thinks boxing is a joke.

I miss Larry as well but I don't mind Kellerman. Max is extremely knowledgeable and does his job very, very well.

I like Max much better except for when he asks these non-English speaking boxers a long winded questions. Get straight to the point in a simple to understand language.

I like that he wasn't afraid to call a fight boring when it was boring
